Running lights?

So I've decided that I would like to install Angel Eyes on my 2000 323i, but have one problem. My car is not equipped (or at least it isn't programmed) to have daytime running lights. Therefore, whenever I'm on the highway I have to turn on my regular headlights. My question is, if I were to install Angel Eyes, what would I need to do to be able to have the rings function during the day without having the regular headlights on? I read that they will only come on with fogs or running lights. Is there a DIY? Basically, I son't dee a point in getting angel eyes when they will only be on with my night-time headlights. If I get angels, I will be getting the
