made my own Predator Motorcycle helmet

I'm sure some of you saw the "contest" on facebook that no one won... This pushed me over the top and i had to have one, and i'm not shelling out 800 bux for one of these, so i made one. Easy enough right? I've never worked with any of these materials before, not bad for a first timer.

so i started with this, it's DOT and SNELL, and super light weight. Pretty good to start with.

some supplies

getting the shape

laying the fiberglass

resin coated

needs trimming

bondo going on

sanded

primed

painted and airing out

i used Rustoleum hammered texture paint. I love the texture this stuff makes, plus it covers up some of the imperfections in my rushed sanding job.

airing out, the inside smells like pure resin!

me riding in to work this morning, many necks necks were broken lol.

it may look pretty heavy, but it's about the same weight as my Scorpion helmet without the dreads on it. I plan on swapping them out when i find something lighter, and i will cut a tinted visor to use with it. Visibility is a bit limited, i won't be out and about with this helmet, it's not exactly the most practical thing. Once i do a few touch ups to it, i plan to have some details airbrushed onto it. Mission accomplished.

Glad you don't live in California, the Governator would have a stroke if he saw you.
