So you do not like driving in secluded areas?
If you don't, you're missing out. If you do, and you're not using high beams, you're definitely dropping the safety level down, with your decreased visibility on unlit roads.

Unlit roads are usually the best roads around here.

yeah the poll is flawed. I don't agree with painting all the bowls black like you show in the pic but I don't see a problem with the high beams if you don't use them.

I think if you listed yes, no, or a little color in the high beam bowls is okay you'd get about 25/25/50.

Safety aside (not that safety should ever be put aside), ruining a $1,000 Bosch/ or ZKW projector headlight (or any factory headlight bowl/projection unit for that matter) with a can of spray paint is not my cup of tea. This poll reveals not only how many, but also who is OK with that idea and who isn't.

That's like saying somebody "ruined" their paint job by doing an art car.

To each his own should rule.

Safety aside, which has always been my caveat.

Doing "an art car" isn't against state Department of Transportation safety regulations.

I love this thread already and I hope it stays around for a while strictly for it's purely idiotic bias and overall waste of Mango's time. By keeping him from threads that nobody wants him in to begin with, this is a win-win.
At any rate, Flash-to-Pass bowls should be color people want them to be. It should be a factory option IMO. For those of us that have bi-xenon lights, these lights will literally never come on unless they are specifically asked to do so.
So if a person never wants to see them on, they will never come on. So who's gives a flying **** what color the bowl is.
In my case, I wanted people to be able to see them when I (rarely) "Flash-to-Pass" so I put a pair of SilverStar zXe in the housing
https://www.sylvania.com/en-us/produ...rstar-zxe.aspx
You'll note (Mango) that these bulbs are 100% DOT approved and street legal, yet have the slighest blue tint to the glass housing.
This (unbeknownst to me) gave my bowls a slight blue tint when viewed from afar with the lights off, and I think it looks great.
I also think that the yellow looks pretty good myself for the record.

They're DOT-approved because the filament is larger which compensates for loss of output. You can get those bulbs in clear glass with a larger filament and for cheaper. By buying those bulbs, you put yourself in a loss/loss/loss situation versus a win/win/win situation.

Further, the point of this thread (again) is to see who stands by what. Look at the names of who voted and tell me if you agree with me that the average age of people who voted "OK" is much younger than those who voted "not OK"

Some of it is safety, some of it is taste. Either way, you'll fall into a certain category/group.

Doing the high beam bowls with a light tint is about as against the law as illegal window tint.

Mango clearly you are a superior person to those who aren't against what I've described. You literally think that. It's so insane.

Jeez with the hating on mango...

While you might not agree with his view, even the smallest bit of light lost is a safety issue and should be avoided.

Furthermore a can of spray paint to OE headlights...ya, no thank you.

PS...I couldn't vote on the app but if not obvious I say no

It's painfully obvious my "haters" are jealous.

I also understand a lot of young 20-somethings and teens will argue. It's cool. I especially admire a young person that has a strong grasp on what's right and what's wrong and applies their knowledge accordingly.

I'm not even offended by his view on the safety. While I think he's making a bigger deal of it than it is, it's not the problem. The problem is him believing he is superior to those who don't share his taste and just being generally condescending. Also his "I'm older than you and therefore superior" attitude. As if he was never younger than he is now.

I really gotta ask though. What exactly do you think anyone is jealous of? The amount of money you put into a depreciating asset?

There's only one young person here whose contributions and knowledge earn top honors. He knows who he is. Come forth and reveal yourself, young man!

It has nothing to do with how old your brain is, but how you use it. But generally speaking, the youth are voting in favor of poor taste. You only grow wiser as you get older. 6-8 years ago I would have thought these mods are OK.

If you can't see what I mean, I won't blame you. Just wait a while. It will come.
