how to quiet down topspeed exhaust?

got a topspeed exhaust; put it on to replace my all stock exhaust... the fitment wasn't good but i managed to forced one of the pipe to connect with the stock pipe (the one with a donut coupler pipe)... anyways it is really loud, checked if there's exhaust leak since the piping doesnt fit perfectly, seems like there isnt exhaust leak... I have searched that putting AR20/25 will reduce rasp... I dont really mind the rasp that much but I want to quiet it down a lot... will the AR20 quiet it down a lot? what if i take out the stock resonator and put two AR20 in section 1? if not what other options can i have to make it quieter? dont really want to spend extra money to get another exhaust system.

thanks in advance!

Putting AR20/25s will not make it quieter. It only kills the rasp.

I don't have an ar20 but from what I understand it won't really quiet it down per say, more like just alter the sound by reducing the rasp which will make less noise (if that makes sense). Honestly though it sounds like you got the wrong muffler. You might be able to add some kind of block off/butterfly valve to cut off one set of exhaust tips that may quiet it down some, but I'll probably affect performance.

ok so AR20 only kills rasp... what about adding glasspacks/cherry bomb? perhaps a well known muffler brand from Magnaflow?

Add a second resonator to your section 1. Why would you get the topspeed given that you don't like it to be too loud? the topspeed is one of the loudest exhausts out there.

If you have a big a$$ truck and live in the south then sure glasspack/cherry bomb
Get it a chance to break in and if it's still too loud then revert back to stock and get something else when you have the money. Or try and trade the top speed for like a dinan or something

I have the same exhaust, and the SAME PROBLEM! Here's the solution:
Go on ebay and order Magnaflow Muffler part # 14386 $130
Take it to a good muffler shop and have them cut out those 2 big hollow imitation mufflers from the topspeed exhaust and put the magnaflow in its place. Labor on that should cost you about $100-$150 the most. Voila! you will have a much better sounding and quieter exhaust and you'll thank me in the morning. lol
