Door lock problem

Hi

within the last year the remote key stopped working so have just been using the key to manually lock drivers door.

Last week I returned to my car, opened the door lock and heard a click. The key would not open the door and just turned round.

After much faffing I called RAC (AAA) and they got me to local garage who got the key working with a temporary battery and got into the car.

I have sent the remote key off for a repair, but still have the problem of a broken door lock, so I am relying on the remote key again. (actually I have not received key back yet, and am using the spare as ignition but am unable to lock car ;(

So what should I do? I have seen replacement door locks on ebay but I guess that involves getting a whole new set of keys...?

I am trying to fix this as cheaply as possible (so BMW main dealer out of question!) so could you give me any advice as to what I should do?

Also this might be unrelated but the tailgate window light keeps coming on and the bulbs in the back too....will check micro switch tonight but could this be related?

Sorry bout long post!

Hi. Have a search for GM5 module as that might be your problem. Jim
