Turned fan manually - thats spinning freely with no resistance. Dont hear anything that might be bearings gone either. Connection to fan looks good too, (disconnected and reconnected it).
Cant turn engine on to test it, the radiator adjusting screw must have fallen out on the way home after re-filling it at the farm earlier.

So, next step i think is to get a new Radiator adjusting screw and a coolant temp sensor and see if that makes a difference.

Cleaned off parts of the engine today too (bathroom cleaner (the foaming one) is feckin super on engine grime - spray it on, wait 5 minutes wipe with sponge and rinse ) - so hopefully that will help me find the oil leak. Altho im not too worried about that at the minute, its not causing me any issues, and no noticeable loose of oil.

Hopefully fan ok then mate as they are expensive, easy to change cheaper parts first. I changed all my cooling last year after a leak couldn't find it so ripped it all out and put new.

To get them out you have to break the wings on them - those wings are what locks it in. The one that was in it look like they used a load of silicon or something to hold it back in after they took it out. So me messing with it just made it worse, and the one I got from teh breakers yard today was useless as soon as it was pulled from the other car.

I'm going to get a new one anyway (there are a few bits im just going to replace for the hell of it, just so I don't have to do it later on and feel a bit more secure when driving)

Just to make sure we are on the same page.. its #2 in the diagram.

You've done well so mine came with more problems than I would have liked, but she is a lovely car and I think worth fixing up.
