Hey guys, how's things with you all. Been a while since I've been on. Up to my eyeballs. Hope the cars are still running smoothly. I am taking mine to my mates garrage during the week to store it so I can go up and work on it when i have time.

Hey, if you can get RTE2 on the tv, watch out for me this Thursday at 9:30pm..

Yeah, I didn't do too bad if I do say so myself. Was great fun filming it. Cant go anywhere without someone coming up to me telling me they recognise me from somewhere, but you know well that they are dying to say... 'your the guy from the program on tv!'

That sounds like it could be a number of things.

My suggestion would be to get it to a local garage and get it plugged into a diagnostic and see what errors are stored in the ECU.

Is the engine light on at all? have you loose plug leads maybe?

Could be a good idea to have a whip around the car and check the leads are all connected properly, check the plug leads and battery connections. Check for any corrosion around the battery. Also check if the alternator is charging the battery. Usually a battery light warning on the dash can be a faulty or worn out alternator.

just sorted the same problem on a friends E36 compact, same symptoms as that , found it was starving of fuel swapped out the fuel filter and all fine , may be a cheap fix before the garage gets there hands on it

Having a sluggish time with my Audi A4, might check same on that. electrics all seem to be good and battery is fairly new.

On the up side, got my BMW running again, so hopefully I will get a few nice dry days to work on her. Need to replace the wishbones on the front and get that dam airbag light to go out.

Question: I know there are a couple of reaons why an airbag light would stay on, but I was thinking it might be the sensor on the passenger seat. I would presume if I got another seat from the local breakers it would have the sensor in it, and when plugged in to the car, it should fix the fault (It may not be the seat, but im willing to give it a try).. any thoughts on that?

Hey Dropbob,

I had the same thing, it was the sensor mat in the passenger seat, a secondhand seat might not have the sensor with it, just search ebay for the sensor alone! I eventually got a 2nd hand replacement mat from the breakers which did the trick.

Cos i'm lazy, before i replaced the mat i bought one of those airbag bypass switches, it makes the car think the seat is occupied so the airbag is active and the dashboard light goes off they plug into the mat sensor connection. i got mine in an auction for a couple of quid!

Had a look, thanks. Looks like there is a guy selling them on ebay from donegal so will get one from him and see if it does the trick.

He is selling the sensor mats too for around 35 pounds so if turns out to be the seat I will replace the mat.

Thank again Tokyo

Welcome to the forum Mark, think I just posted on another post about heating issues that your experiencing, I would try the water valve first, this is common if stuck "Open".
