It looks like Pres. Obama is condemning what happened.

Unacceptable conduct by those in the IRS who perpetrated the act. It's refreshing to see the IRS publicly admit and condemn its actions. Good job on the President for acknowledging and condemning what took place as well.

**** like this will always happens. It's how we address those issues that will define us.

This case is a good example of a much larger problem within government--not every case of government abuse can be traced all the way up to the top. Far more frequently, it's the fault of some mid-level bureaucrat who is abusing the small amount of power he or she has, without any input or approval from superiors. Whether it's a file clerk at the Secretary of State needlessly rejecting filed documents for a minor typo, or the local municipal planning commission refusing to grant permits for a building or subdivision simply because someone on the commission doesn't like the builder, or a low-level employee at the election commission "misplacing" signatures to get something the employee doesn't like on a ballot, these kinds of things happen frequently all over the country.

Hence why I posted the article about mistrusting the government.

I'm convinced that there's someone higher up at the CA Sec of State's office who has set up a rejection quota for all SoS filings in order to boost filing fee revenues. 2 weeks ago we had 3 CA attorneys working on an Agreement of Merger for filing with the SoS - all experienced guys working off of previously accepted forms. It got rejected and/or failed pre-clearance 3 times, for blantantly bogus reasons. We finally had to have one of the attorneys call a buddy in the SoS office to pull strings. That crap doesn't happen in other states, that I'm aware of. So until someone proves otherwise, I'm marking it down to high level corruption/conspiracy/Illuminati.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least. Every time we've had a rejection it has been for a total BS reason.

IRS Admits to targeting conservative groups: Apologizes

Nothing prejudice here, if liberals actually had money and filed tax returns too I'm certain they would be under microscope as well.

Thought the prez and IRS handled it correctly.

Negative. All democrats are middle to lower class working joes just trying to make a buck and help out their fellow man. Anything else is a Fox News lie.

What a coincidence, the IRS knew about this since 2011 and just decides to come clear after Benghazi starts blowing up in the President's face.

(Reuters) - Higher-level Internal Revenue Service officials took part in discussions as far back as August 2011 about targeting by lower-level tax agents of "Tea Party" and other conservative groups, according to documents reviewed by Reuters on Monday.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Congress was not told tea party groups were being inappropriately targeted by the Internal Revenue Service, even after acting agency Chief Steven Miller had been briefed on the matter.

Miller was first informed on May, 3, 2012, that applications for tax-exempt status by tea party groups were inappropriately singled out for extra scrutiny, the IRS said Monday.
