Wind deflector...I used to like it.

Unless Im missing something, my deflector has become more of a pain than benefit. Before I rant, is there some sort of locking mechanism that keeps it upright?

Hers the deal, the last 2 times out, the deflector has falling down dozens and dozens of times. Windows are up, but it still falls down (backwards). Slowing to a light...it falls. Starting from a light...it falls. Big truck goes by...it falls. Sometimes it just falls!

It is not touching the back of the seats, and "indexed" into its most forward position. Am I missing something, or am I going to have to put a small bungee cord on MY $300 BMW REFLECTOR!

(note to self: do not ever buy an OEM wind deflector, no matter how drunk you are & see one on ebay)

Im not sure I follow your reply.

Are you saying the OEM deflector is sub-standard?

And...your assertion that I was drunk? Where did that come from???

And I didnt get it on eBay...I bought it from a user here.

Mine has never fallen in 5 years. Don't know of your deflector can be fixed or adjusted, but perhaps try finding another one so you can get the true WD experience you came for.

Good luck

GAs...don't think so much. Everybody on this forum knows my complete disdain for wind-deflectors.....both functionally & cosmetically.....has nothing to do with you or your post. (Jus havin fun. Note to self was for me,...to make sure no matter how much beer I have to drink & do some ebay surfing...do not buy a wind-deflector. That is all. (sorry for any confusion)

You can drill small holes in the two hinges and install pins in them. It will never fall down again

"Falling down dozens and dozens of times"; something is not right here? Mine has also never fallen down, even at high rates of speed on windy days! I guess a passing semi-truck might cause enough force to overcome the back pressure that normally keeps the thing in the upright position, but again even this has never happened to me. Pin mod shown is simple and cheap enough to do I guess and looks like an effective solution if yours is prone to falling down for some reason.

Yea turbine...I think something is out of adjustment or not correct on your windscreen. I would guess that the "spring lock tensioner" on yours is weak for some reason.

Mine falls down quite often if it's windy outside. I noticed when I put it up in the locking position it sounds like only one of the two hinges are making a snapping sound.

Mine has occasionally fallen

Mine falls down sometime if there is a strong gusty crosswind. I just consider that part of the deal, I still really enjoy the benefits of the deflector

I have those clis sitting in my garage, never had the chance to drill the holes to finally install them!

Copy. But I will have to assume you have never tried one. To claim they do not function is outrageous. As others have said, it is literal night & day difference. I can not believe how well it works...when its up anyways.

Regards.

You're right, of course, but don't mistake disdain for function for claiming it doesn't function. Maybe some people just like cold air up the backs of their necks and spousal complaints about hair flying around.

Kudos to Jason for his excellent fix, but I just don't get it - mine has never fallen down in ten years of ownership, yet others' have. Perhaps it's those heavy trucks. Otherwise, just makes no sense. Sooner or later, everybody encounters wind.

These things are absolutely the best thing you can do for your vert.

gusty cross winds are the only thing that affect my windscreen.

It is one of the best purchases I ever made. Living in CT, it extends the top-down season by a good 2 months

I also love it and have never had mine drop even with windows down on the freeway (forgot it was up when I rolled the windows down).
