Volume won't increase beyond 20, amp or hu?

On my '02 330xi w/ HK: I have an Alpine HD148BT head unit going to a PAC SOEM-4 and into the factory HK amplifier. I also have Alumapro ALC 6.2 tweeters\woofers (4ohm) in the front.

Everything works, except when I turn the volume past 20 or 22, it no longer actually increases the volume, just the number on the head unit. Turning it down or up below 22 will still effect the actual volume as it should.

20 has me right at a "normal" listening volume when not on the highway.

If the factory amp what is limiting me here? Or do you think this is an issue with the head unit? I already have an amp on the way (Alpine MRV-F300) to take over powering the ALC 6.2 speakers, and want to know what to look for while I have the system open installing that amp.

Well, I figured it out, for some reason there is a setting called "MX" and turning it off fixed the issue!
Supposedly it's supposed to enhance the sound, I guess too bad it doesn't work.
