The E30 is now at GT Auto Garage. I dropped it off to Dave and Dave this morning.

I took some photos of the engine and they will be posted below. A big thank you to Phil who made sure that everything was properly and securely packaged on the pallet.

I can't wait to post the progress pictures as they are available.

Update time

So the boys have cut through their backlog sufficiently to enable them to start some work on the Red Rocket today and work they did.

Here are some photos that the boys sent through:-

So travelled down to GT Auto Garage this morning with my boys to check out the progress in person.

As the pictures attest the old engine, gearbox and tailshaft are all out. The radiator is also out.

Some new parts have been ordered and are winging their way to Zillmere including coils, plugs, water pump and Vorshlag competition steering shaft assembly.

The exhaust ports on the S50B32 are square shaped as opposed to circular. In order to effectively "port match" the headers to the port the boys have laser cut some flanges - long story short- with some magic the circular tubes of the headers will be pressed into the flanges and welded into place. I cannot wait to see the exhaust magic that Dave will perform.

Things will gather some momentum now and I will continue to update this thread with text and photos when things get done.

^^thanks.

What is great is that the boys are excited about it and are therefore invested in the outcome.

I've decided not to go the mtech kit. But there will be some panel and paint undertaken to make the car perfect.

Also toying with the idea of individually filtered velocity stacks rather than a carbon air box. The sound will be amazing. It all depends. We will develop the idea and try a few things to work out what the final results will look like.

I'm not after ultimate power. It won't be dragged. It will do some laps at QR but not be a race car. So ultimate power will somewhat take a back seat to asthetics and sound.

Dave sent me this picture the other day.

There has now obviously been some progress on the car with the engine in.

Exhaust needs to be fabbed and I need to replace the brake booster so that the OEM plenum will fit until I decide what i am doing with the intake.

Big shout out and thanks to Phil who sold me the engine etc as he is going to send me the brake booster off his old car. At least now I know it will fit.

How hot does the engine look sitting in there?
