Just picked mine up this weekend. Liking it so far. This is my first Android phone.

Wanted to know if there's anyway to get text messages to wake the phone up like the iPhone does. When a text comes on the the HTC, all you do is hear a sound. On the iPhone, it would turn on the screen and give you a preview of the text. Im on the phone a lot at work and something as silly as this would really help me out.

I ended up moving to metropcs and grabbing a LG spirit, way better experience in my estimation. Of course this was from an HTC One V not the new htc one.

I'm a smartphone newbie - any way you can run this on an HTC which is already running their Sense software? I'm not entirely sure of all the benefits, but everyone seems gaga about running stock Android, so it might be worth checking out.

Yes. The fat bearded man will show you how to unlock the bootloader:

http://www.xda-developers.com/androi...-developer-tv/

Next, you should go here to get a custom recovery (clockwork mod touch) which will allow you to flash ROMs.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2227

Also there are a few AOSP ROMs available to flash. I highly recommend CyanogenMod 10.1

Just make sure you do your homework before getting started. Going in blind without reading is how problems happen.

Perhaps you should stop responding. It's a no-win for you here. :dunno:

Re: HTC One

At this point, I think I'd still go with the S4 based solely on the fact that it supports Verizon's soon to be deployed AWS spectrum that they recently acquired. That means the S4 will get better speed and reception in congested areas.

Also the S4 supports wifi 802.11ac, another good future proofing feature that the One lacks. If you get a phone with a 2 year contract, these things will matter. Technology moves fast.

Then again, I'm a function over form guy.

But if you don't have Verizon, it doesn't matter.

Pretty sure I'm still on 802.11g. How fast do I need my router to be, especially in relation to my phone....?

I'm starting to notice some lag when I wake up my phone and even on some application clicks. At times it is long enough (milliseconds) that is is annoying.
Also, I haven't noticed the patter, but the back button every once in a while isn't working..thinking it is app glitches or maybe the sense interface. Rare, but annoying.

Still loving the phone though.

Good to know. This is my first smartphone, so I'm not sure what known issues are out there.
