The difference is sole thickness and weight. 3.0's of any Free shoe have the thinnest sole and are the lightest/most flexible. 5.0's are usually Nike+ enabled. I use the Free Run variants mainly.

do you squat in these.

I find when I go from my lifting shoes to my NB's they are super squishy.

Yeah, I do. The NB's, Merrell's, and other minimalist shows don't fit my feet well. I know the lifting shoes would be awesome, but I'm not willing to spend the coin on them. My newest 3.0's are great, and I just ordered another custom pair:

^ You work out in compression shorts without wearing any other shorts on top of them? Why do you shave your legs? Triathlon?

Yep! Why not? I have a great physique and I can pull it off. Everybody has known this about me for years (...where have you been? ); I'm almost always in compression gear if I'm not at work or dressed to go out. I shave my entire body, but I'm not overly hairy anyway. I like the clean/smooth/uniform look!

This, I never wear my lifting shoes outside the gym, I change into my running shoes and it feels like I am walking on squishy stilts.

My next shoes will be Nikes, need to custom design some as I don't like the color of the soles they come in, much like M3Inline6.

I'd be afraid of leaving ass sweat all over the place.

I don't do entry level! It's either the best or bust!

Honestly, I've seen people in "regular" clothing leave far more traces of sweat than I do, especially those who wear cotton T-shirts/basketball shorts. I'm always in long sleeve compression tops too.

I thought before you take pics in locker room before changing, I did not think you worked out in compression shorts.

Do you trim and then shave with a razor? This must take you like 30min to shave your entire body at least once every 1-2 weeks.

It takes 5 minutes to run a razor over my legs, stomach. ass crack and crotch every other day while I'm in the shower; 10 minutes to shave my head and face. It's not time consuming.

My verdict Nike frees 5.0 cross trainers. I'll be using them for middle distance running, sprinting, and lifting.

Pretty cool picture haha, nice choice too though! I was attracted to the 3 but I knew that it was probably a little bit thin of a sole to do the kind of running I plan on doing in my 5. All while the 5 being thin enough to lift in.

Tried on some Merrel Bare Access 2 today, very interesting. They sit very well, definately not much padding.
Did feel a little like they make me lean more backwords, not sure, but the only support they had was in the middle of the foot, the arch or whatever.

Also tried on some Nike Free 3.0 but i didnīt like the way they sit on my foot. They didnt have a seperate tongue, so had to jimmy my foot in there, and wasnt comfortable on the top of my foot.

Anybody have any comments on the Merrel Bare Access 2?

Remember, the 3.0 designation is just for the sole. A 3.0, 5.0, etc. sole can have a variety of uppers. It's the upper that you had an issue with.

Shoes for lifting

I don't think any shoes I see in this thread can hold a candle to these. Absolutely the best shoe I've owned. Great for weight lifting and running. Click image for larger version

They run about $100 but are so well made and versatile.
