Mosin Nagant, anyone own one?

Just wondering if anyone else has a mosin and what they think of them. Personally I love these guns. They are cheap as hell to shoot. And fun to shoot. They kick like a b!tch though which adds to the fun lol.

Nothing better than taking my m44 to a range and after 5 shots most people get up and move due to the noise it makes. Throws a fireball out the front every time

Right now I have:

1942 m38 carbine
1945 m44 carbine
1931 Tula 91/30 hex receiver
1943 sniper
1943 91/30

I'm keeping an eye out for a 91/59. I think every gun person needs at least one Mosin.

One of these days when I'm at a store and the price is right, I'll pick one up on impulse. I've shot one before a few times and its madness.

^ id hurry and get one they aren't as easy to come by.

They are insane, it's not a rifle but a damn artillery piece. Loudest gun I've shot besides a .50

That's why I love the m44, leave it to the Russians to take an already high powered rife and saw off the barrel. The m44 will destroy your shoulder without a recoil pad. Bitch kicks like hell.

2 years ago I paid $40 for my m44. Now they're close too 200. I love how fucking loud they are. My friend chopped a barrel on a 9130 and ported the barrel. Literrally have to double up on your ears.

I bought a 1939 Tula 91/30 and 1,820 rounds of ammo (including 500 rounds of non-corrosive) in January. Lots of fun and amazingly accurate. The first time I shot it was when I was sighting in the scope on my 30-06 Ruger American. I was getting around 3 MOA at 100 meters from a prone position on the Ruger, using a towel as a rest, just getting used to the scope and trigger for the first time . . and then I was getting about 3-4 MOA on the Mosin. I was blown away because at 100 meters, I could barely see the target with the open sights on the Mosin. I was just aiming at roughly the midpoint on a 2' white square and was surprised when we walked up and saw a relatively tight group. It was 9" high, but tight. I've heard they are sighted in at 300 meters with the bayonet.

The kick was less than the 30-06 when standing, but a bit harder when prone.

I just used hot water to remove the cosmoline. Found a Youtube video on how to do it. I removed the barrelled action from the stock, removed the magazine base and follower and disassembled the bolt. I put all of the parts in a tupperware bin, heated a pot of water to 170 degrees and then started ladling water over everything, using a funnel to get water down the barrel. The metal heats up enough so that the water dries very quickly when you remove the parts from the water. I used some solvent to finish cleaning the barrel, oiled everything up and wound up with a super clean rifle. For the stock I just wiped it down with paper towels. Didn't experience any bleeding of cosmo when we shot it either.

Re: Mosin Nagant, anyone own one?

I have a '41 Izzy I bought on impulse and I love the damn thing. I'm considering picking up the archangel stock for it in the near future. Looks like a neat design.

You think so? I think it looks pretty cool. I also like the idea of a 10 round detachable mag.

I don't have one, but I do remember the last one I shot was owned by E92M (chris) and we were pissing some people off at an indoor range! Another time before we were tryingto cook the cosmoline out of the damn gun by running too many rounds downrange. My shoulder hated me after that day.

I think if I were to do it, I'd go for one of the shorter carbine models. That being said, it would really and truly be an impulse buy. I have almost zero use for the caliber and it's pretty impractical, at least as a target/range blasting gun. Its just too damn harsh on the shoulder IMO. I haven't shot another weapon that hits as hard as that thing, all the way up through a .338.

Puts hair on your chest.

Also the carbines kick 2x harder. My m44 kicks so hard the bands on the stock slide around occasionally

Your taking a rifle that was designed 122 years ago and adding a composit stock to make it look like a modern "sniper rifle" Anybody "in the know" is going to laugh at that pos.

On the other hand, I'm sure your going to bring up being on a budget... $180 rifle, $200 stock, Want a scope? Gotta drill and tap or add a scout mount $$$ ohhhh damn my bolt handle hits.... Turn down bolt mod $$$

Once you "fix" {what dont need to be fixed} with the stock your well in to the teritory where you could afford something like a savage model 11 with a threaded barrel. Add up the cost of the scope, mount, and bolt mod you could toss a cheaper local made .308 can on it for not much more.
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=342556956

tactical nagant VS silenced .308..... common..

True...I'd shoot just about anything at the moment to get trigger time.

Took my m38 carbine to the range yesterday. The guy next to me moved the second he saw the gun come out of its case. The other guys next to me were all like HOLY SH!T after the first shot then proceeded to bug me to try it out or take a video of the fireball

It made the ar-15's there sound like .22's love these guns.
