When I listen to music the center is not on at all. I only use it for dialogue. And whatever the director puts through it for movies.

Live and learn.

Then it would be the LEAST important for playing music, wouldn't it?

Maybe you need to learn a little more before submitting comments to people you know nothing about.

Please quote when we started talking about music. I thought we were talking movies. And apparently we are so I would think you are agreeing with my comment.

I think we are ALL on the same page. Maybe I threw off Glock when I said "sound only" up there. I'll let them worry about the TV, but yes, it is definitely for watching movies.

BTW, this is the entertainment center they're getting.

That is big. Depending on the room/wiring that might make speaker placement difficult. It is nice though.

I picked out a $220 center that is $100 for a $1000 system.

If you budget $333 for receiver, $333 for a sub, that leaves $67 for each of the 5 speakers. I budgeted $100 and got $220 worth of center. At 3 times as much as the other speakers, I have clearly given weight to the center channel's value.

My center channel was $1,500. I fully understand the importance of a center channel for movies.

Great reviews, but in ceiling speakers rears would look nicer IMO.

$299 is dirt cheap, probably great for bedroom or dorm.

So, where am I now?

CS10 on Amazon for $99 - Center
TSi200 on Polk for $249 - Fronts
RC80i on Amazon for $139 - Rears

Is there a better option than the Onkyo TX-NR414 in the same price range. They appear to have some issues.

What about sub? Will a $200 sub or less be sufficient?

Check out Polk Audio PSW125 Sub for $249 on Amazon.

Check out Denon-AVR-1613 for $329 on Amazon.

Keep in mind with ratings, in general people are more likely to leave a review if they hate something than if they like it...

Tell them to buy an Amazon Prime membership if they don't have one. Free 2-3 shipping on everything for a year. (the sub itself probably cost $30 to ship UPS ground)

I have Amazon Prime, so I'd probably buy it through my account.

I have a Denon Receiver (AVR-1910) and have been very happy with it. I was running Pinnicale speakers and subs but have since switched to the existing in-ceiling speakers in my new home. I kept the center channel though under the TV.

If I could do it over again I would stick with the Denon Receiver and go with Polk Audio for the speakers and subs.

How does this compare to a system like the Bose Lifestyle V35?

Bose is way overpriced for what you get. I like your system significantly better.

Contact Amazon and see why their price is higher than Polk's on the TSi200 and if they will at least price match it...

$249 on Polk's Website...

Huh, actually it's $252.43 today.

So, if they get all this, what do I need to know to set it up. Wires are in the ceiling and there are plugs in the wall where the entertainment center will sit. I assume I won't use the plugs for things I wont put in the ceiling, like the fronts and the subwoofer.

I am not going to guarantee anything with that package, but I am very confident that it will sound great if directions and set up is followed correctly.

Those are quality components for fantastic prices.

My in-walls were $749 each and my in ceilings were $500 each just to give you a reference. I doubt my speakers sound twice as good let alone 5-10 times as good as that system.

Hook everything up BEFORE doing the in ceilings and play around with it. If you like, mount the rears. If you don't, check all the set up menus, the wiring, etc. Still hate it? Return it all and start over.

BTW... CHECK THE MEASUREMENTS ON THE FRONTS FOR THE ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM!!!
