Medicine cabinet necessary?

I'm remodeling my bathroom and thinking of removing the MC completely so I can fit a wider mirror to match a wider vanity. Is it unusual to not have a MC?

It's not uncommon in the slightest. My last place had 3 bathrooms and no medicine cabinet. My new house has 3 bathrooms as well and two of the three have one. It depends on the size of the vanity and whether you need the additional storage.

3 bathrooms in my place, zero MCs.

Honestly though, I kinda sucks to not have on in the master. I'd love to do a recessed one, but I have tiled walls and the placement between the studs just does not work for me.

Look into going with a recessed MC if possible. Best of both worlds.

I have recessed cabinets. At first glance I thought they were just normal mirrors until my fiance swung open the door. I was embarrassed for not knowing

You want to be embarrassed ? You want to look foolish ?

Buy a brand new home as a single man and then eat meals from fast food places or the microwave. Six months after moving in my new home I tried to cut on the oven so I could cook some of those chocolate chip cookies that come in a dough roll and you cut them into slices. The oven did not work.....grrr......I called the warranty provider, he came out and said.....no wonder it does not work, it's not plugged in.... how often do you cook ?
You should have seen the look on his face.

I was like.....oh well........I was more embarrassed by not being able to figure out that the thing was unplugged. But who would have assumed it was unplugged ? It should have been checked with the final checks.

Hey, live and learn.

I have a recessed cabinet now but I want to install a wider vanity. I know the vanity sink won't land center to the where the medicine cabinet is now. I was thinking of moving the MC to the side wall. So you have a wide mirror in front of you and a medicine cabinet to your left.

Before a custom top gets suggested, This is my duplex im remodeling so it will be a rental. I don't want to spend $$$$, I'm going with off the shelf stuff.

I laugh because I can see my fiance doing that with the kitchen. I'm the chef of the household. She doesn't know how to unload the dishwasher because she has no clue where anything goes

Take the mirror off the recessed cabinet and rig up an offset one to center up with your vanity. Only thing that'll look strange will be when you open the door up.
