blacked out grills vs. stock

anyone have side-by-side pics of blacked out kidney grills vs. chrome ones on a facelifted black sedan? (i'm thinking about converting back to stock)

I disagree, I think on black the blacked out grills look sick. As a compromise. I think it would also look good if you left the chrome vertical slats in the center chrome but have the outside part of the grill be black. that would look good too.

Black grills look bad on black cars. On some lighter colored cars black grills look good.

I think if you have the chrome window trim it flows but if you have the black trim then maybe the black grill if it fancies you lol

^ completely disagree. you now have lost ALL grille "depth" & BMW characteristic by replacing the chrome.

Here is a better picture. Each has their own opinion. I have the shadow trim around the windows so my grill being black did not match anything.

blacked out grills vs. stock

Don't take what I said in a bad way... I think black looks great if your going for an aggressive look but most cars I see are not aggressive enough to look good with black grills.

I've seen some though that look amazing with it and others that look really nice and classy with the chrome...this is one of those topics where there is no right answer. Everyone will have a different opinion.

It all depends on the car and what look your going for.

I love the stock look, the chrome adds that layer of depth.

don't forget guys. we're leaving out one of our little brothers, the one who doesn't get much attention. well, 2 of them I guess we could say. the ones that are painted the same color as the car and the carbon fiber ones. I never liked the grilles that were painted to match the car color.

Then why did BMW make E46 performance grills for the E46 in black?
