I will check on that. But I changed the fuel filter yesterday. And it was dated. O3/02. So it was the original from when the car was new. Am sure if they took the car to BMW dealer it would be changed. But who knows? I could not believe it. When I unplug the lines. It took almost 5 minutes to drain. If the old owner was there I thing I would slap him. Lol

Thanks and I do this every time. I buy a neglected car and bring it back to life. My last one was 03 impreza 2.5 rs. It came out awesome. So clean and aggressive at the same time. I sold it and bough this baby. Is I just get so pisst off how people can do what they do to there cars. It's supposed to be fun and you should be proud of your vehicle . No Mather what it is. That's how I feel. Anyway when am done with the M3. I will brake everything down as far how much I invested in it.and everything I did. I'm getting the parts for the rear subframe tomorrow. The plate kit, front and back, all new neupren bushings, for the whole car.So I will tackle the m3 over this weekend. Late.

Hi u all. Just ran the codes on the m3. Po010/po012. Seems like the vanos solenoid soderind is bad. Call Beisen system to order a rebuild one. Very help full person. Cost me $150+150 for core. Should have it on Tuesday then send my bad one back and they will credit the $150 back. Pretty good deal. I let u all know if it worked. If any one is looking for brand new oem BMW vanos pressure regulator ( the one that goes on the vanos block) I got one for sale $160 .Dealer wants $237 I got a extra one. Let me know. Thanks.

My first e46 M3. New to the forum. Just saying Hi (:

Yikes! Sounds like quite the project... I guess no different than restoring an old muscle car that's been sitting around neglected for 30yrs. Just A LOT more expensive! GL!

Last night. I took the vanos solanoid off. And install the rebuilt one from Beisan systems with new O rings. NO MORE CODES. Poo10 and Po012. So it fixt it. The only thing left is the SMG issue. I will try to dial it in this coming up week.

Very interesting read, and thank you for the sub-frame pictures..very helpful. It seems to me that we both have the same hatred to people that neglect cars... it drives me insane.. especially with an E46 M3.

Good luck with your beautiful car at a beautiful price. Interior pics/plans ASAP pretty please!
