My Ride: 2001 BMW 325Ci
My Project Thread (2001 BMW 325Ci Coupe)

A lot of people have been doing Progress/Project/Build Threads, and I figured I'd just on the bandwagon and show my work over the time I've had the car. The Style 71's came on the car, as I snagged them from another car that was totaled and traded my stock 7 Spoke rims for them. From what I see in and on the car from the start, I think it's both a Sport and Premium Package.

Some pictures are lower quality, because I didn't have my Nikon Camera until after I installed a few things.

First pictures I had gotten of the car:
(2010) Had just gotten the car and was at a storage unit picking some things up.

Graduated High School and bought myself some Black/White Logos.

Then I started working and got a combo pack on eBay that came with the built-in halos, projectors, and also came with some smoked corners.

NOTE: Naturally, since they're from eBay and only cost $210 with free shipping, the halos quit working right only about 3 months in. I'm now looking into SolidJake's RetroFit thread. I plan to do the quad projector setup though.

Here's an image with the projectors installed as well.

When I had bought the new housings, they did not even come with a relay harness for the halos to work. I just figured I'd grab them later on when I did the tail lights.

Here's a picture of the halos working and the projectors and fogs on.

Then an image of the rear LED Tail Lights installed.

The next thing I decided to do, was to grab some matte black kidney grilles. For some reason mine chrome ones were falling out and one day when I slammed the brakes, the right one fell out completely.

After that I had decided to do the clear side marker as well, since both of the front and rear turning lights were cleared out.

I then bought some white on black dice valve stem caps.

I decided that those were a bit tacky, so I traded them from black and white BMW stem caps, painted the calipers matte black, and put on some black lug nut covers from BavAuto. I had also decided to convert all of the BMW Roundels to the Black/White Carbon Fiber ones, as opposed to having the black/white hood and trunk ones, and blue/white wheel roundels including the steering wheel.

After all of that, I put a 3M Carbon Fiber roof wrap on, but they had installed it and I saw a wrinkle, so I had it removed.

A few months of saving, I decided to put some dark grey suede on the pillars and headliner, since the previous headliner was falling off.

My most current modification is the HID 6000K lights.

Definitely would like to. I had gotten this one on a deal and it was an automatic, so I just went with it. If I ever grab another E46, or the transmission needs to be replaced, I'm totally going with three pedals.

Cool build man! I just got a 2001 330Ci and looks just about how yours started out as.
You throw a new bumper on there.

I want the MTech, which I did get, but the shipment tore it completely up. I just don't have the funds right now for both a new bumper and paint job. Definitely on the to-do list though. I'd love to see yours.

You could definitely take some pictures, then go into photoshop and put a layer over the badges and color it black.

My friend has a 325CiC in Steel Blue, and when you add black stuff to it, it really pulls the gray.

Mine is Steel Grey Metallic (400), I'm not sure if that's the color you're talking about.

And really, thanks for the kind words!

Steel blue does look good, especially on a lowered sedan. You could also just get body colored pieces instead of black. Either/Or, it'll turn out really well. Keep me posted on what you end up doing. I'd love to see the outcome.

I know, I am currently looking at doing your RetroFit. Just trying to get the money to rebuild the lights right now.

+1 with Jake's comment on the headlights. I did the projector retrofit in his thread and don't regret it one bit. Love, love, love my retrofitted projectors.

That said, beautiful color (not that I'm biased or anything...) and clean modifications. While I prefer clear corners instead of smoked, yours' pulls it off rather nicely. Our cars are actually really similar, save for the suspension & wheel set up. Perhaps shadowline black vinyl your window trim? Keep up the good work!

Believe it or not, I didn't like the smoked corners at the start either. Once I started to make it more of the monochrome look, I started to like them more and more. I am definitely looking to get KONI Shocks and some H&R Lowering Springs, but it will cost me a substantial hole in my pocket.

I do agree, our cars do look a bit alike. The main difference is the CSLs vs. the Style 71s.

I don't have my 325 anymore but you can look at my pics. The blacl only looked a little wierd because at the time I had just oainted over my stock wheels, had the black carbon fiber hood emblem, yellow lamin x, and 35% tint. Just looked wierd because it was a vert with a navy top. As for your sedan I think it would look great. I lile the steel blue metallic because its not a common color as for being a good challenge to build/customize. I can see black CSLs on yours and lowered. Changing all the stock lights out getting rid of all amber. Nice dark tint. You habe a good color to work with
