is it even possible?

I hate how STI, GTI AND EVO have such smaller engines that are small turbo powered but yet they are so much faster than us and one of the reasons is because they are AWD. My question is would it even be possible to make a turbo M3 AWD??? Would that even be feasible?

Of course it's possible... But why? Do realize how much money you'd have to spend to do that? Just go buy at GTR and call it a day.

What all would you have to do? Just the front end nd the transfer case right?? Is the GTR AWD?

Speaking from experience, my M3 is faster than any STi, Evo or GTI that I've pulled with.

It doesn't need AWD.

If you head over to the XI section of the forum there is someone doing exactly that.

Edit: Twin turbo

It's also my understanding that AWD makes a car a bit slower, not faster.... or at least that's what the Top Gear guys always say

There are advantages and disadvantages to AWD, go read up on it.

if your profile is up to date, you drive a 328.
You are not losing to the cars you mentioned because they have AWD. They have better power to weight ratio. BTW, GTI's do not have AWD. Unless you mean R32's.

Wow, what a build!

OP - With enough money you could definitely do something of that nature.

The VW GTI is FWD and has a 200ish-hp (207hp IIRC) engine and hits 60mph in about 6.3s. It also only weighs 3,100lb. Meanwhile my 330Ci has 225hp (or HAD since it's old now) and weighs 3,362lb. These two cars are about even. The STI and EVO you mentioned have at or over 300hp and weigh around 3,500lb, so I don't think the big deciding factor is AWD or not, but rather power. Then again I could be wrong

Ok bro how do you think ppl learn new shyt?? By asking right? By looking and asking ppl who know more about the subject, which is what I'm doing. Stop criticizing cuz unless you haven't noticed that's what this is for, and as for funds......you have no idea what I have so please dont comment unless you personally know me or what I have. Thank you for your time.

Relatively stock I imagine? Also, GTI doesn't really belong in the same group as the sti and evo

I would argue doing research is a much bigger component. Questions are only useful if you know the subject matter well enough to ask the right questions

GTI was a Mk. VI. Mods included downpipes, intake, diverter valve and APR Stage 2 tune. Quick car but I walked it.

A couple of my friends have Evo VIII's with the usual intake, exhaust, tune, injectors, A/C delete. The STi seemed stock but I didn't know the kid.
Ran with a 12.3 second Evo X the other day too. He was quicker, but not by much surprisingly!

The trouble with turbocharged cars is that they've gotta wait to spool. It's nice having the power there all the time.
