Message for those buying used BMW Strut Bars

While recently looking for a used strut tower bars, I was finding that all of them were missing the special nuts that go with them and several sellers were telling buyers that they could just use the ones on their car. While it's possible to get the nuts from the dealer, I wanted to let people know that they need the special BMW nuts! They are machined to go into the strut bar mount and the head is smaller to clear the recesses in the bar mount. The nuts that come with the car, have a wider base and will not fit the mount recess. Even if you got it to fit by grinding it, there is only 3/16" thread remaining on top of the mount to grab on to. That is why BMW makes the special nuts. You can choose to buy the bar without them, but I wanted to help people out by letting them know what they are getting. Good luck.

This is what the nuts look like:

definitely need the nuts for the strut bar. i joined a group-buy back in 2003 and the special nuts came with the strut bar.
