about $300 for the whole set.

I installed them myself, took about 6 hours including hooking up 3 switches. 1 for the fronts, 1 for the rears and 1 to change the flash pattern.

i have a silver sedan, completely kitted out, lowered, rims, tints, exhaust, fly by me on I-95 then he threw on his strobes when he passed me. i chuckled...

i would get them. its not like you see the car and can see that it has strobes. use them when you feel like it. nothing wrong w/ them. go for it

Yes strobes are ALOT OF FUN

And almost a necessity for night shows for sure. Take your time with the install and it will be virtually unnoticeable when off.

late,

I was thinking of hooking up some strobes so they go off when someone sets off my alarm.

dude, you are talking about neon underbody kits, not strobe lights. strobe lights are what blink when a cop pulls you over, not the neon green light glowing underneath the honda revving its engine at you at stop lights.

Unless you are police/fire/rescue personell with a DMV issued license to operate emergency warning lights, they are ILLEGAL to operate on the street. There are NO practical purposes aside from shows. Minimally, you risk a fine - but if you're caught by the wrong cop on a bad day, license suspension, impersonating an officer, etc... In NJ, the process to get a permit for warning lights includes being a member of an emergency service, getting written approval from that agency, getting written approval from the municipality (which must be signed by the mayor), and then applying to DMV. Volunteers have these laws driven into their heads, because impropper use of the lights - even with a permit - can result in driver's license suspension at a minimum.

as long as the car is not in motion when the strobes are on you're pretty much ok. and, i wouldn't think about getting red or blue lights you can get a ticket even if your car is not moving.

blast from the past...

It's not the 'motion' that makes them legal or not - for instance, you could park in the middle of a busy intersection with strobes on, not moving - this is illegal.

The 'legality' comes from the purpose. Actual interpretations may vary state to state, but if you are using the lights to mimic an emergency vehicle in or near traffic (without a license) - you are breaking the law.

If you are using them in a parking lot, or indoors during a show, this is most likely legal.
