Air Intake for ESS TS2.... Options please..

Hi I am still getting my ESS TS2 m54b30 back on road after my m54b25 died on me. So I had CEL due to using 325 MAF but now I got a proper MAF and I need to match up an air box to fit...

Now I can get a second hand one for 150 which is a little high. Where as I can get the AFE Stage 2 dry filter for the non m for around the 300 euro mark.

I would love the BMW performance intake but with a new price of $800 I cant justify that for its little section of carbon and the slightly bent air filter! haha. I do love the look and should have bought one while it was $300...... Ya snooze ya loose!

Is the AFE system any good?
Is it worthwhile in a S/C setup?

Im not looking for any HP gain from the filter but I dont want it to be an absolute heatsoke as I know that the aluminium manifold from ESS already runs quite hot....

Main question...... Standard box or AFE stage 2?

This makes sense if I have some form of intake low down such as the CSL bumper etc.
But with a regular intake I feel, although this may get rid of the the heat from the engine etc it is not allowing air to get at it as there are no intakes in this region.

That is why I was looking at the AFE intake as it utilizes the standard air intake from the grills...

What I am wondering is weather the standard air box would be a better alternative...

Also there is a dry and oiled AFE option, I would be leaning towards non oiled as it is similar to standard..

I've been quite happy with the stock air box with the AFE dry drop in filter. ESS emphasizes the importance of proper filtration to protect the tight tolerances of the TS rotors and actually recommends sticking with the stock paper filter.

Binned my K&N drop-in filter and went with the bmw performance one, when it was on sale for $290
