Project Benz - 1984 W126 500SEL Euro AMG

So I... uhh...... bought this thing last year. LOL

1984 500SEL Euro
AMG Lip kit (sans front bumper) with trunk spoiler and side skirts
Factory AMG/BBS 16x8 et11 weaves
French headlights/Euro tails
Power reclining back seats
Vacuum actuated central locking
160k miles

It was a Wisconsin/Minnesota car for its whole life, so there is some body rust. It's damn good underneath though. It was stored for 8 years before I bought it. Hell, I didn't even know I wanted a Benz until I came across this one.

cleaned and flow tested injectors

ratty center console area waiting to be loved

Parts waiting to be installed once the car runs again:

AMG Steering Wheel
New Zebrano wood trim for interior
Driver seat switch
Euro front bumper (currently has stock US-spec front bumper)
Voltage regulator for alternator
Door striker/locking eye for driver front door
Refurbed wiper motor/transmission assembly

Currently working on vacuum lines and waiting on parts at the shop. Here's a link to the full thread on Benzworld: http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w126...d-up-euro.html

If anyone is thinking this already, YES I spent all my e46 trans swap money, and then some, on this car. LOL

Gray is the worst

Beige is the best for this car out of the stock colors

- Summer only car (black interior can suck my balls in the summer time)
- e28 M5s were only available in black on tan in the US
- Matches wood trim better than any other color
- Tan leather is the most 'natural' besides brown

I would love to do brown, but I'm not about to change the carpet in this car. I'll rock the baller factory tan in mint condition

Absolutely awesome car!!!

My parents had an '84 500SEL for about 10 or 11 years, it was THE pimp car to have in the 80s.

Thanks guys. I'm still pumped about it, almost a year after buying the thing. I've only driven it 1.1 miles so far, it's been in the shop since. Hella discounts later, and I'm about 1 or 2 parts away from running the thing

Not yet, but I did have the talk with my boss and it will be in process soon.

I really want to do my own thing on the side too. Buy all sorts of ratty lower mileage 300zxs and e36s and 1st gen supras and whatnot and make them respectable enough to resell

I just see the amount of money you pour into your e46 and now this Benz and I realize that you can't be saving much. Are you cool with that?

You're right, I'm saving zero. Not worried about it. I've been spending my savings on things I really want instead, mostly vehicles and vehicle accessories

Again, I'm really not worried about it. I currently have 4 project cars. The least of the projects is my '88 pathfinder, which is about to get 2/3 of the car repainted this summer

edit: I think I might have an unhealthy passion for cars also

Hey man, I'm a big believer in, if it's YOUR money then spend it how YOU want. I just bought a Carrera S and some people think I am too young for one but they can't tell me sh!t....

Good luck to you Alec, I wont be on this forum much longer
