AA supercharger full kit $300 supercharger needs rebuild. Should I buy?

Like the title says, someone I know has a full AA supercharger kit for the e46 328i. Everything is there but the supercharger had seized up and broke off the compressor wheel and pulley. He said I can have it for $300 (injectors, intercooler, piping, oil lines...everything) just wondering if it would be worth it and if the supercharger can be rebuilt. I'll upload a pic of the supercharger. How much would the parts themselves be worth?

Depends. If you can find a replacement unit, then the cost of the rest of the parts may very well be worth it. I'd imagine the sum of the parts would easily hit $300 as it sits. Just depends on what you want to do with it. I don't know about rebuilding that thing, but if you can find another one cheap enough without the plumbing, might be able to put 2 and 2 together to get boost.

Is that supercharger rebuildable? That's all I need for it to work...even still. U think I could make anything reselling the parts if I can't fix it?

OP, Here's how I see it.

Lets say you buy this used broken kit for $300 bucks, now you get into high gear on trying to get it rebuilt. But find out that you can't, so now you start searching for a good condition "used" supercharger. But after a lot of searching realize there's nothing out there except for guys with "complete" used systems in the $2500 to $3000 dollar price range. So now you say, it's time to ante up; and start looking at what a new supercharger will run you. You shop around and find out that a new Rotrex C38-81 will cost you about $2300. So now you bought and own a brand new Rotrex supercharger and all the other hardware, which is a good thing; at a cost of $2600. But you're only half way there, because you still need that pesky thing called a "tune". Now I don't know the exact price AA will currently charge you for a tune, but figure it's in the $800 to $1000 dollar price range, so now you're in for about $3600. Not to mention the small fact that you have no warranty on this Frankenstein kit. Oh, I forgot to mention that your current HOLSET supercharger bracket won't fit the Rotrex unit, so you'll need one of those too.

At the end of the day, I wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pole.

Food for thought:

You are looking at a new sc, oil cooler, and software. Not going to be cheap, and you are stuck with secondhand support.

Screw it. Not going to get it. I'll just look around for a working kit.

Tuning isn't a problem though. My friend tunes anything from a civic to a Porsche Daytona prototype (he took it on public streets after tuning it lol)

If it was a roots style supercharger I'd say go for it! But centrifugal superchargers aren't that great and make little gains.

Nah posted a link to the kit for sale but never mind. There's only one guy that can rebuild rotrex superchargers and he won't warranty his work. Too much of a gamble if I spend well over a grand and have the thing grenade on me in a week due to faulty rebuild or something...

I am still looking for just a rotrex blower itself for sale. Then I can use this kit. If not like I told the seller (who told me he saw this thread, oh well who cares) ill pass on it. Don't want to be stuck with parts if I can't get a blower (fvck buying a brand new one, ill swap an s54 in my car for that much)
