SMG Swap to 6 speed good or bad..

My SMG Pump went out on me yesterday... And I am just really sick of SMG. I have a shop close that does Swaps for the 6 speed. I was wondering is it really worth it. Will the car be worth less if I do the 6 speed swap.?. And Im not playing on ceeping the car for much longer. Are there any Problems with doing the 6 speed swap Let Me know Thanks.

The swap has recently been fully documented. If they've done swaps before, then it's not a bad job. How much do they charge?

SMG Swap to 6 speed

I loved the smg gearbox but after battling for 18 months to sort out the shifting problems I threw in the towel and went manual.I did all the resets as indicated on this forum and the pump primed for 8 seconds when unlocking.
Compression springs were inspected and found not to be broken, perhaps they should have been replaced anyway but by then I had had enough.
The gear position switch, actuator cost more in South Africa than the conversion and I believe reliability is more important as cars get older and spares get more expensive.Personally I think SMG cars will be more difficult to sell as their reputation deteriorates.
Most of you SMG owners must agree its a more sedate drive unless you use launch control and thats a pain as it quickly goes into limp mode,I just never used launch for fear of damaging something.
I got the car back yesterday and couldnt be happier, the car is a different animal now.
I'll miss some aspects of SMG but will NOT miss the stress of wondering when it would let me down in a race at the lights or just going on a leisurely drive.

If you do not plan on keeping the car, just replace the pump and keep the car as a an SMG. That way everything will be as it came from the factory.

Now, if you want to keep your M3 and possibly enjoy it more as a manual, then do the swap. Also, only do the swap if you know a place who has done many of them and can handle doing the work. You want them to do a proper job which is 100% complete, so that it will be as if the car came as a manual. If the proper swap is done, then you can sell your car for a 1000-2000 more than if your car was a SMG. This is mostly true if the swap was done by a reputable shop.
