Correct me if I'm wrong but...Mass Effect 3 had a DLC package released because the ending was seen as unsatisfactory by the majority of fans that played it. The DLC was $10 I think.

I know $10 isn't a lot initially, but it adds up with the likes of BF, CoD, Far Cry, and pretty much every other AAA FPS title out there.

Just because the price goes up doesn't mean "gaming isn't what it once was"..... So you judge your games by how much they cost????? Ummm... NO.

...do you comprehend anything that you read?

The entire point of my post was to clearly outline that we're getting screwed over in terms of what we're buying.

I'm pretty sure I comprehended that clearly...

You CLEARLY said "GAMING ISN'T WHAT IT ONCE WAS"

NOT, "Gaming is so much more expensive nowadays"

Maybe you should THINK before you POST.

Back in the day I was huge on bf2 and played on PC. My PC could no longer keep up with bf3 so I got it for ps3. I'm debating if I should buy it for my ps3 or my laptop. Not sure if my laptop can handle bf4 though... Thoughts? This is my computer, if someone could take a look and tell me what they think that would be extremely helpful!

I also may be updating to an HDD.

Laptops are not really meant for gaming. Simple as that. Even though you can technically run it, doesn't mean it's going to run it well. Unless you have a gaming PC built, buy it for a console.

^ I think I'll download the open beta on it and check out how it does. I know its not a gaming computer but it seems the specs of it compare fairly well to recommended (coming in a bit lower), plus I'm not the biggest fan of an FPS on a console using my thumbs to aim.

Like I said, laptops are not meant for gaming. It might run the game. But you're most likely going to have to turn down settings in order to get a descent frame rate. Not too mention the thing is going to run hot, especially with a graphic heavy game like BF. It's easier to just have a console or build a gaming tower.

switched over to PC just for BF4. the larger games and maps are so amazing. Got bf3 for PC with premium (and 9 other games) for a whopping 19.99! Turns out PC gaming is so amazing compared to console.

Well as people said before it will defiantly run hot. I have a 4 year old pc I built and it barely runs bf3 on medium/high settings. No issues on low, but it just is so blah. Dont even see the shutter effect of the guns ejecting shells lol just shells coming out of nowhere. I can run it on medium/high and it looks way better than console, yet it overheats my graphics card after about 2-4 hours.

My pc has a quad core i7 @ 2.9 ghrtz with a gtx 275. The graphics card is clearly the reason. I'm considering simply getting another one and running them together as a temporary patch for bf4.

If not I'd grab a newer i5 and a 7series gtx card. But then I'd need a new moboard also. Meh. The 50 dollar 2bd 275 seems better at the moment then 500-600 for the chomp. That way I can upgrade my bimmer lights to xenon and not feel bad about it :p

But yeah. Def download the game beta and go from there. A nice pc is always good though. Consider it!

That graphics card is going to have a hard time running this game at Ultra settings, even if it can, not to mention the entire laptop itself is going to run insanely hot(as already mentioned) due to lack of cooling properties.

You say you're upgrading to an HDD? Doesn't this laptop come with a 750GB hard disk drive already? Do you mean upgrade to an SSD? If SSD, then yeah, that would be an upgrade.

I built an entirely new gaming computer for BF4, this is my rig.

Corsair 650D Obsidian series case
Asus P8Z77 V premium mobo
EVGA GTX670 FTW graphics card
Intel i5 3570K ivy bridge CPU
Corsair 800W modular PSU
Corsair Vengeance 8GB X4 memory
Samsung 840 series 250GB SSD
Western Digital caviar black 1TB HDD
HP Black optical drive
Windows 7 PRO 64bit

I may be forgetting something small, but I think that covers it.

My opinion is that if you want to enjoy the PC envioronment with BF4 and not deal with frame rate drops, screen tear, power downs and aliasing issues, build a well rounded rig. Don't spend $500 on a graphics card and then cheap out on your PSU if you catch my drift.

Have fun man, and maybe I'll see you on!!
