Exhaust Aftermarket Replacement 2001 325xi

Well it's finally that time to replace my stock exhaust on my 2001 325xi. What is a good replacement option for the entire exhaust?? Nothing fancy just a plain old replacement... I would like to keep the car but after a $4600 replacement estimate from a national chain I had to ask you guys what brand could I order that would be cheap and last a few more years so I can keep the old bimmer?? I live in the Northern VA..... DC area and don't drive it much bc of public trans. I came from NY where the salt finally rotted away my exhaust. Best car I have ever driven in the snow. Thanks for any suggestions. Mikel

It broke up near the front and of course the dude wanted to replace whole system with oxygen sensors... It no doubt is rusted being the original exhaust but not sure I need whole exhaust. Will get a few more estimates this week... I'm willing to replace the whole thing if needed but not for more than the car is worth. Might be time to do a trade in. I'm thinking if I can find a decent aftermarket brand I will have a good local mechanic replace it.

lol, $4600

you need new manifolds? i highly doubt it

you can get a full stainless from magnaflow for $900 or so

i got mine for $600 and $150 to have it put on by "an exhaust guy"

not a national bang you in the arse garage

Hey thanks for the reply...where did you find that exhaust for $600??? Yeah that was Meineke which I figured would Jack me and they did. This was the first place I checked and will check more but I assume that most of these places will try to Jack you because it's a BMW. I figured maybe they would be somewhat reasonable but I guess not....that sounded like a dealer price. So I guess I need to order one online since these places can't be reasonable. Anyone else have a brand they like? I'm not looking for performance but just a generic setup. Thanks, Mike

was a couple of years ago, still was a good price at the time , ebay

for a full system from manifold back i'd say magnaflow or highline

if you don't want stainless you could buy just a muffler and have the rest done by a good exhaust guy

find a performance car shop or club in your area, they will know a guy

Not kidding you dude...I almost laughed in his face but just smiled and left. The car isn't even worth that anymore. Now it looks like alot of these Magnaflow full exhaust kits don't come with the Catalytic Converter? You have to buy that separate?? Sorry for so many questions I have never replaced an entire exhaust before.
