corner lights tab fix

i have a 2002 prefacelift 330ci
the tabs broke off on both my corner lights as i was changing the bulbs
I realize how shitty the plastic was, and living in the hot houston summer, it probably didnt make it very hard to come off once i unscrewed it.
My question is, is there an diy way to repair those tabs? it would save me the $50 of buying the corners....

I have the same problem but just on the driver side. Where are you planning on buying them if there isn't a diy solution?

A simple fix while saving for new lens

When I bought my 2001 330 cI, the tab that holds the metal spring clip in place was broken on both front corner lights. We did a simple fix .... probably not acceptable for a purist, but it worked none the less.

1. Hold the lens in place and put a mark on the tab. Access the tab through the hole you use to release the lens.

2. Remove the lens and drill a hole in the tab at the mark, the same diameter as a stiff piece of wire.

3. Install the lens and then put the wire into the drilled hole. Put a bend on the wire so it doesn't drop through the drilled hole. The wire will prevent the lens from coming out. Make sure you drill the hole so the wire is in a snug holding position.

I don't have great pictures, but at least you can get an idea of what I am trying to describe. The wire in the picture is not the correct size. I bent a piece of a coat hanger just to give you the idea of what I did. Like I said, this is not a pretty fix, but it works and does allow easy removal of the lens.
