Davis .380 Cobra Freedom handgun

The local Gander Mountain has a chrome Davis .380 semi-auto Cobra Freedom. Anyone have experience with these?

They want $129 for it.. Decent buy for a backup home defense/pop can plinker?

I sold my .380 (Ruger LCP, great gun for the purpose) because of 2 factors:

1. Poor performance for self defense
2. High ammo cost / hard to find

Personally I'd be looking for a 9mm if you want a dual purpose plinker / backup gun.

Absolutely hated my KelTec .380

Stick with 9mm or .38 revolver for small gun

.22LR for can shootin.

Edit, after doing some online research, I think this is the P380. Not sure if it's before or after Cobra bought Davis out.

A lot of Cobras get pulled off of hoodrats by urban police departments. They're inexpensive easy to conceal, and nobody really cares if they lose one because they're really not all that good. It's akin to buying a Hi-Point

We get more Hi-Points than anything else up here, but Raven, Hi Point, Jennings/Bryco, Cobra and Phoenix are all considered hoodrat guns up here.

.380 has always been expensive, but $50 would be nuts. Blah!
IF -and that's a big IF- I carried a .380, it'd likely be a Kahr P380, S&W Bodyguard, Sig P238 or a used Colt Pony. If I were going to be carrying a small gun, which are known to be finicky and unreliable, I would want the best available. Just my $0.02, which is worth exactly that.

Thanks for the insight, guys. I'll be passing on this thing, and using that $130 towards a nicer one!
