Modding my 330i duel exhaust

Well I have been on a hunt for a way for my car to lose more weight. I figured the best thing to do it revamp the exhaust from the headers back. Last month I put catless headers on along with $600 worth of maintance work for various gaskets and parts that just needed replacing. Now I see alot of M3 guys take there exhaust to one single pipe after the headers and I will doing the same thing. Removing both resenators and taking off the muffler for a custom build one. Ill be going 3" SS with hopefully not to many bends to a custom made 6" diamiater muffler. This project won't start for about another month as I have just to much going on. I hope to save around 50+ pounds and get the sound to be a little deeper. Also hoping for slight increase in WHP. (Currently at 234 with the headers and pullies) Will dyno again after. Please give me some feedback if any of you have done this to a non M e46.

If your doing this to save weight just cut the muffler if you want light weight and aggressive sound. That with the catless headers and call it a day. Also just a FYI as far as weight reduction start from te top of the car to keep your center of gravity low.

This.

When the Cut-out is closed, it'll be almost as quiet as stock. (Cop Proof)

When the Cut-out is open, it will make Big HP & sound like a race car.

pretty much, except it wont step back down. My buddy might build a single resonator into it near the Y also. Also yes i will be saving weight other places too. I alrdy have a sun roof that does not work. So ill be removing the motor and sun shade along with all other parts that are not needed. Wheels will be the next step. Will be trying to keep each wheel around or under low 20's for a 17" wheel.

Remember that DIFFERENT dynos give different results.

A lot of forum members had trouble with my Baseline dyno, being that it was SO LOW. My baseline number on my stock 2003 330Ci was 165 WHP, most see 180 to 190 WHP. Some guys see more, it's not that they have a extra ordinary BMW 330, but that there dyno shop has slightly higher readings.

"DYNOmite" wtf? lol
So you are telling me your headers made 50hp?
I didn't even get 30hp with CAI,race headers,cat delete,pulleys,and stage3 dinan software w/ Evolve re-map.

This is what the dyno says. I could care less about that number. But the number of WHP higher with every mod done.

I totally agree with you but 50hp? My car has been on a dynojet, a mustang, and Dynapack and all have been within 7hp of each other.

Maybe your headers are perfect and the weather was just right and you have a real strong stock car. either way good for you I guess

This.

It really doesn't matter if someone baselines at a high number, for the sake of argument (and fun) lets say 300 WHP on a stock 2001 330Ci. What matters is how much you end up with after all your different mods. So in this example, lets say the mods are: 1) Headers 2) CAI 3) Pulleys 4) Cat-Back 5) Cams & 6) Software

If after all these mods & a Re-dyno for new results, the numbers came back as 338 WHP; well I'd be a Total believer in the fact that this fiction-able forum member just made 38 WHP.

38 WHP is your answer (in this fiction), which means if your own personal Bimmer didn't make close to 38 WHP after your mods, it won't beat a guy that did.

Wish i would of got a dyno when i was stock. But im glad my buddy owns the shop and dyno and basically only charges me a little more than a case of beer to do a few pulls. As long as my numbers keep climbing I'm a happy guy.

Ended up with this gem. Should have it welded back together and installed next week. Full 3" can't wait to hear it.
