Vicious attack/home invasion in my town....

In this particular situation, a dog would be more useful than anything else. Even if she had a gun in the house it doesn't seem like she would be able to get it.

Yeah I mean he might mess the dog up, but hey if it's a pitt or some aggressive breed..I'm sure he'd do his fair share of damage, hell he might even win if it's the right pup.

I have never really viewed dogs as a deterrent in a home invasion. I have always viewed them as a warning system and an obstacle.

I see how that would cause someone to rethink their actions. I always took their barking as letting me know somethings up.

True, but hell, if the dog can buy you 15 seconds to grab the kid and bolt out the door it's worth it. Anything like a German shepherd or a Doberman would be pretty effective however, provided they are well trained. Any form of defense and/or obstacle in situations like these is better than nothing.

Burglars aren't too keen on things that bring attention to their actions. A dog definitely makes your house less palatable as a target. House A no has a dog, House B doesn't. Personally, I'd hit house B.

It won't stop the most brazen thieves and there's no guarantee that your dog won't wag it's tail and roll over for a belly rub when someone breaks in, but it certainly doesn't hurt. Besides, dogs are awesome.

I had to make an argument over putting interior cameras in... Yeah they can't do anything to stop the attack, but it will give you positive ID if there is one. It will also aid in ID'ing someone that decides to break in.

I am also reminding my fiance to carry around the FOB for the security system for when I am not home just for moments like this. One press of the panic and the cops are silently notified that it's a panic situation.

It's really becoming pretty crappy out there no matter where you live. Seems like a nice neighborhood isn't secure anymore.
must be one heavy AZZ key fob to trump a crow bar. Lol

Do your Fiance a favor and stop giving her a false sense of safety.
Get a gun

Carrying a FOB for a silent alarm is pointless. An alarm that has a siren would at least be something

One shouldn't rely solely on a firearm. That said, it certainly doesn't hurt.

I couldn't watch that ****. people who do this type of **** are disgusting. I worry about my girl being home alone even well armed. it just goes to show you that you really do need to be prepared for the unthinkable, especially in the safety of your own home.

The crowbar incident happened before I got the system, it prompted me have it installed. The system has an outside horn that would sound instantly...

A gun is out of the question, I know you don't think so, but they aren't for everyone. Plus, if it were a forced entry like they are saying, that gun would never leave the closet. At least if she has something in her pocket, it would've at least notified the bad guys. Only downside to that is they are most likely going to shoot everyone they see and call it self defense. Average response time in my neighborhood is very quick due to our location. It is one of the reasons we bought the house.

If that guy busts in on a woman, unless she is walking around with pointing at the door, it would be useless. I repeat, useless. It it were holstered, it would've led to a more dangerous situation.

Well... this is for most cases. I know that at your household it is customary to answer the door with guns drawn.

Oh and for the "fallen and couldn't get up" comment, re-watch the video. She was down and couldn't get up.
