Sad to watch it wasn't even in full attack mode. That cop just wanted to shoot something. Twat.

Position A: Cops were in the wrong
-Citizen exercising their right to film police, unlawfully detained
-Dog didn't actually attack anyone
-Cop should have tased before shooting

Position B: Cops were in the right
-Detained suspect who was yelling things and obstructing an investigation
-Dog lunged/attacked and officer feared for his life

I just feel bad for the dog. He was just being a dog.

And people wonder why when cops get killed people rejoice..

No chance. Dog's name was Trayvon.

Why were they arresting the guy in the first place?

Oppression? Contempt of cop? They need to go home at night?

These aren't cops, don't let the uniform fool you.
For those that blindly trust cops... Take a lesson

Another reason why force, up to and including deadly force needs to be legal to prevent illegal arrests.

I've met enough cocky, douchebag, dumbass cops and respectable, level headed, caring cops to know that the uniform means nothing. It's all one big Stanford Prison Experiment. The ones failing at being a 'guard' are the ones that aren't cut out for the job psychologically. I don't know what kind of testing and filtering they undergo, but it should be strict. Anyone have input?

Back to the video... the dog was definitely not in full attack mode. It was in "investigative" mode. I have a rottweiler and if one of these dogs was in full attack mode, there's a good chance someone might not make it. The cop may not have any experience with dogs though and was legitimately afraid. I know people who won't get within 10 feet of a dog because they were bit as a child. Maybe he'd rather shoot the dog than possibly get bit and lose movement in his hand for the rest of his life. Of course, it's unlikely that was running through his mind at the time. Probably more like "unknown dog approaching, not sure if playing or attacking, must make it stop".

Cop shoots a dog while arresting owner

Poor friggin dog he was just being a good dog and protecting his owner.

Edit: But there are very few options could've taken place. Cant really restrain a dog like that.

The owner kind of put him in a bad place.

I hate to say it, because it's clearly an unpopular viewpoint around here, but if I were in a situation where a dog started behaving aggressively towards me and didn't back off following a sharp yell, I would seriously consider shooting the dog. If it were behaving aggressively towards one of my kids, I probably wouldn't even bother with the yell.
