17 Ohio sinkhole swallows car; driver climbs ladder

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/n...e-car/2488117/

Quote:
TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) - A northwest Ohio sinkhole has swallowed a car traveling down a street and briefly trapped the driver, who climbed out after authorities gave her a ladder.

Toledo police Sgt. Joe Heffernan says a water main break beneath the road may have caused the sinkhole Wednesday. The hole is estimated to be at least 10 feet deep.

Police say driver Pamela Knox didn't appear hurt but was shaken up and was taken to a hospital as a precaution.

Heffernan says Knox saw the vehicle in front of her start to slip into the hole but drive beyond it. He says Knox couldn't avoid it.

Officials used a crane to pull the car from the hole. Repairs to the road are expected to take days.
An Infrastructure bill still wont pass until an elected official gets injured or dies in one of these holes.

it's amazing to see some of these sinkholes. it's also pretty cool to see the brick road underneath the asphalt.

There are still a few streets near my house that are all brick. It's so loud going over them.

^lol I fell into a sinkhole on a golf course.

Was lining up my shot, on the backswing I sunk down to my waist in a small sinkhole on the fairway. Was funny as hell.

My buddy was walking across the fairway to get to his ball and fell 15ft down into the ground.....busted up his shoulder, arm and ribs.

Not that he intended to sue, but I think certain acts of god fall outside of the responsibility of the owner (in this case, the golf course). As far as I know, it would be like trying to sue the golf course for being struck by lightning while on the fairway.

if they don't warn people about lightning they may be liable. if the irrigation system caused the sinkhole they would be liable. did he get anything from them? or just act like nothing happened?

I have no clue, lol. He's not the type of guy to sue over something that is completely accidental. I don't envision their irrigation system causing a HUGE sink hole like this. It basically opened up into an underground room that was 15 feet deep and had a pretty substantial diameter. I imagine he got medical care.
