Thinking about picking one up. Anyone have any experience with them? Particularly the 5 cylinder.

The Xtreme edition looks pretty nice, I've heard they're fairly reliable too.

My boss had 05 Colorado. Ton of issues. Had to get engine top rebuilt due to lack of power, constant ABS and electrical issues.

Fuel sucking, gutless pig of a truck. Have 2 of them at work and people refuse to drive them.

I dunno, I've got an '05 Z71 4X4 with the 3.5 i5 and it's not bad. It's not a power freak like my silverado, but with four wheel drive certainly can put the power down better.

I think it's a great truck honestly. But you have to remember that it's kinda in a class by itself. The tacoma is much larger; the ranger I guess is still the only real competing model.

I guess it all depends on what you expect from something. If I get one it had to be the 4 door with 4x4. I've been looking at tacomas also. I like them and I know they're great trucks. They're more expensive though.

They stopped making the Ranger 2,3 years ago.
It is available overseas, but not North America.

You can tell that they mean business because they left out the "E" in "Extreme." It's fun because that's not normally how you spell it.

My friend had one and absolutely hated it. Either go ford or Toyota truck. He recently got a tundra and that thing is pretty sweet. Still partial towards ford tho.

Look at the 05+ Nissan Frontier. Cheaper than a Tacoma and better truck in my opinion (that's why i bought one).

True, I forgot about the frontier.

And not to be totally antagonistic, but "gutless" isn't really fair. The i5 will hang with or beat a huge number of e46s on this forum. Not 330s or m3s, but 323s, 325s, and 328s definitely, especially with slushboxes.

Until they enter this thing we call a "turn". Gutless is relative to the truck market. I personally wouldn't piss on the best part of one, but to each his own.

me either, when i had my house i would just rent the lowes truck for $20

i see no reason to have a truck ,unless it's used for business and leased through

i did have a 77 f150 with a 351 cleveland pulled from a mach1 when i was younger, smoked alot of mustangs with that pos ,lol

I don't need the truck for work, my dad already has an F-250 for construction. I need it for my hobbies such as shooting, fishing, kayaking, hunting, towing our trailer for atv/ dirtbike, and hopefully a small boat in the future. Also the bonus of being able to help my dad with his company by delivering some materials around. Obviously I don't expect any of these trucks to handle like my 330. I'm looking for opinions on what they are, trucks.

They aren't bad trucks. Power is acceptable and they seem pretty reliable, I have worked on 2 of them and both only had minor problems. The first one was the throttle positions sensor at 150k miles and the other was front wheel bearings at 350k miles. Both were still in good shape and ran well. The one with 350k was used to commute from Phoenix to San Diego 5 days a week.
