It's gonna be rough for lakers fans next year.

not really. Howard was injured most of the time and he didn't want to play for D'Antoni anyway. It's a great move for him.

Posted this on another board:

Not a big dwight fan, but still disappointed he didn't sign.

I get the immaturity comments and all the rest, but signing dwight would help prevent a long rebuilding process. Sure they have a ton of cap space in '14, but all their "stars" might be gone by that time and they have no young pieces or draft picks. Other than being the Lakers, they don't have much draw for free agents IMO. Having dwight in tow would easily help draw marquee names next summer.

Oh and gotta love Kobe, but can't help but wonder what he was thinking when he was trying to recruit DH. Its like he was obviously pushing him away with those comments.

We had glimpse of what these pieces could do at the end of the year....just too bad it never came to fruition. So F dwight howard lol....but I'll respect him for giving up $30 mil for a younger and better fit in houston.

About how DH may have peaked and be on the decline.

I don't recall any team trying to double team Howard. Or even putting in their game plan "Do not let him score". Dwight is overrated.

LOL! @ you Laker fans acting relieved that he left. He wasn't the problem (to be fair, he didn't help things either). The problem is Mike D'Antoni, and Jim Buss selecting him as the coach when Kobe wanted Brian Shaw. Dwight wanted PJ and he hires D'Antoni to make it HIS Laker team. This team is going to be the barely .500 team as last year.

If you were promised to be the ceo of a successful major corporation and be paid more but first you gotta pay your dues for a couple of years, would you do it? Or would you take a chance in a start up company with a business plan you believed in and hoped for the best?

MK has a reputation of making the best of a situation. Every team goes through a rebuilding process, it's inevitable, especially with Kobe on his way out. I think it's a good sign to see the Lakers try to establish a new dynasty.

Pssssst, Irving, we got some candy in our van....

I'm looking at his recent Instagram photo with James Harden, I swear some of the comments on there make it look like Howard shot their dog or something. He made the right decision for himself, whether you think he made the right decision is completely up to you
