To be fair it should be a sticky - can a mod do this?

OP - How many miles on your car?

I ask because I am at 120k and replacing my original shocks and springs right now, and also doing tie rods and lower control arms with outer ball joints + inner ball joints. All the ball joints and tie rods (both inner and outer joints on the tie rods) are very loose and I am hoping that by replacing these my car will get tightened up a lot. I also replaced the RTABs and FCABs with Powerflex polyurethane ones.

The Koni shocks + Eibach springs seem the most popular base kit, but I went with the FK Coilovers as it gives me more flexibility in setup and was a similar price. I am not worried about it being too stiff, and it appears you don't have to go with a massive drop in ride height with this kit. I will post up results when I am done.

In addition/instead of the replacement parts listed, I went with Mehle HD rear strut mounts, and Z3 OEM rear strut tower reinforcement plates. I understand the front reinforcement plates are standard on E46 xi's. I'll find out when I pull my front struts.

My rear shocks were shot when I removed them, springs OK. I am pretty sure my fronts will be just as bad when I get to them this weekend.

I'm not the OP but I've got 121K on mine right now and am doing the Eibach/Koni this week coming up... Along with new VB3s and tires I need to choose still... I'm thinking Michelin Sport Pilots or Goodyear F1s...

Let me know what you find out on tires Big Rick - sounds like you are in a very similar position to me! I am replacing all this carp right now before I get new tires too. I was leaning toward Kumho Ecsta 4x tires as I need all seasons for the winter ski runs.

OP - Sorry for hijacking your thread :-)

Who is a Mod for this forum that I can PM (or is there some other way to contact them?).

The thread (and Big Rick's thread with your contributions) was fantastic for figuring out which bits I should order...

Big Rick, i would get eagle f1 asymmetrics because they are cheaper, last longer, are better in wet&dry roads. They're not that good on snow but awd makes up for that. Best A-S tire (imo).

I was thinking the same thing... Though I have had pretty good luck with the Michelins I have.

I was also thinking about the Kuhmo 4x for a while but I read a lot of bad reviews after they are on the car for a while. Something about them feeling like they harden up and the ride starts to suffer.

I want to get all this done before Bimmerfest!

I just posted my Style 73s in the classifieds... I don't have it all installed yet... But I will post when everything is done.

I am scheduled to have the springs and shocks installed on Tuesday and my new tires and wheels on Thursday. So I'll know more on Friday after I put it all through its paces...

I don't know who the mod is for this forum specifically but you should be able to find a ton of them on the OT section.

I know this isn't a tire thread, but even though I have some used dedicated winter tires, Dunlop M3s, I'm considering Continental Extreme Contact DWS on the xi and my E36 when they're due for tires.
