Doing a 328 swap in my 323i and have a question about DME

So my engine in my 99 323i is beyond the point of being repaired and I'm just going to have to get a new engine. From what I've read the 328 swap is the easiest swap for my car and I might as well go for the extra power if I have to replace the engine anyway. From what I've read the only thing I will have to do is reflash the DME and this is where my question comes in. I currently have the shark injector on my car and would hate to lose the tune and have to buy another one once I reflash the DME, since it can only be used once or something like that.

Now since the shark injector for the 323 is also for the 328 would I still have to reflash my DME? The only reason I ask is because I was on the turner motorsport website reading up on the shark injector and it says that it replaces your stock tune with the upgraded tune. Since I'm no longer running the stock tune and I am using the tune that the shark injector put on my car which is designed for the 323/328 does that mean my car is already capable of running properly with the bigger engine without the need for DME reflashing??

Thanks, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nope, or do you have 2.8L engine currently? if this curious plugin thingy doesnīt care which engine you have, i would rather flash a stock file instead of this shitty one.

the 2.8l tune is completely different from the 2.5l file, regarding to the different engines. put that 2.8l in, take a m50 intake and have it tuned properly, you will see 210-220PS (doenīt know what that is in us spec).

^ that doesn't appear to be the case with E46s. Look it up on RealOEM or BMWFans.info. 323 and 328s seem to share the same software numbers

I donīt see many similarities between those two:

and even the us files are different:

Okay maybe not all of them, but there are definitely a couple of shared part numbers

12147528722
12147528716
12147528684

You are right that the US ones aren't shared. I suspect the shark injector might have maps for both 323s and 328s included. So I imagine if he uninstalls it, flashes to the 328 software via WinKFP, then reinstalls the shark, all will be good.

Re: Doing a 328 swap in my 323i and have a question about DME

Yea I was thinking about removing the software then reinstalling it once it was flashed but just wasn't sure how well it would work. I don't know, I might just take the loss and buy a 328 computer along with the keys, locks, etc. I found a good set for about $350 and I would benefit from that since the locks on my car aren't even working right now and I will probably have to replace them anyway( if i want my car to lock). Then if I need to, I can just buy about shark injector or something
