Analogue To Digital TV changeover.....330ci TV's no longer work :(

Hi guys,

Now that analogue tv is no longer in Australia are there any solutions for our car tv's?
Just checked mine there and get no channels anymore. I never use it to be honest but it'd still be nice to have the option.

My Ride: 2002 M3
I was going through a fair bit of grief with the car yard I bought my M3 from when suddenly 1 day after getting it back the TV stopped working.

Luckily a phone wasnt handy at the time and I managed to get over my blonde moment before ringing them.

I guess the option is to replace the unit with a 3rd party one and get a digital receiver add on

You can get the digital tv video module for $1000 or so which is a direct swap and is straight out of some late model e46.

Got no idea why but my TV picks up all the digital channels. I just did a rescan a month or so back and they're all there. Were later E46 digital?

Jeez, 1000$. no way i'd pay that for something i don't really use. I'm sure i could find something that would do the job for 200$.

if i do i'll let you guys know. Surely its just a case of changing the little tuner box. Doubt it has to be a BMW part either.

Whatever part number I have in my car is what you need, just find a second hand 2005+ one at a wreckers. If you get stuck try Quarry Motors in the UK, they wreck heaps of M3's...!

I bought one of these off eBay. I get crystal clear channels now including HD. I can also pick up air traffic control communication worldwide and on a clear day, I can even control the Mars Rover. Def the easiest way to fix the e46 analogue issue $99 + postage

Sometimes the OEM hybrid Tv boxes are 700-800 EURO on German ebay.

I quite like TV on the drive from work and when stuck in traffic. But are they any good, does it cut out a lot when passing by buildings & trees?

One of the guys in the UK wrote a DIY to upgrade the tellie link. I plan on doing this within the next few months.
Hopefully digital in our cars will have better reception too. Hardly use at the moment when driving because most of the time it's fuzzy.

Pretty sure digital is even worse in motion as it cuts out entirely when you have a less than perfect signal as oppose to going fuzzy.

Good point actually. Just thought about how many times the tv at home plays up even with an aerial. And it's not even moving lol.
