- My Photography -

I used to take pictures a lot a few years ago. I'm not saying they were good pictures, but I always had fun doing so and decided to go ahead and purchase my first DSLR.

I went with the D5200 and the kit lens. (18-55).

Please feel free to critique my photos as that will help me learn.

The swivel screen on the D5200 has already proven useful. I wonder how much battery it will kill however during a full day of walking around and taking pictures.

I purchased it from Adorama, and definitely recommend that shop. Not only do they offer a free memory card and extra battery, but they shipped it to me extremely fast.

Anyways keep shooting and find your style. Right now you're just taking pictures of things and its pretty boring to be honest. Garry Winogrand, one of greatest photographers of the last generation said that you always gotta compare your stuff to the best. So just look for inspiration and keep trying to improve.

Thank you and I thought that the "instagram" coloring brings the pictures to life more. That could just be my opinion. And my opinion could be way off. Do you not like the "instagram" coloring? Of course it really isn't instagram haha

Ok, i'll ditch the borders from now on. I liked them but i'll trust you and see how it goes.

As for taking pictures that are more interesting. I'm a little confused? What in your opinion makes a picture interesting?

Thank you both for the responses. I need responses to try to get better.

was a 35 that my mom's boyfriend at the time, had given me. Was my senior year at high school and I was in a photography class, so he thought it would be good to learn with and so forth. About three days later, was stolen out of the classroom Never did get to develop any of the shots I took with it.

I suppose a picture of anything can be interesting but its the job of the photographer to make the subject interesting. I suppose things like lighting, composition, and processing all go into making an image striking.

All filters and processes have their place. what I was referring to; is that they all seem to have the same process, in which case the process loses its special effect and the whole look loses it meaning...

This is the problem with many photographers and musicians too; wherein the work all starts to look or sound the same all the time and then gets boring to the viewer or listener very quickly.

Chefs can get stuck in this type of rut also...

Just be conscious of this as you create new works.
