I use it mainly for surfing the web while in bed.. It lives on my night stand.
It also takes the occasional field trip into the crapper for those extended visits.

Also google shipped out my chromecast. w00t.

after watching afew videos it seems very cool. I do have my pc hooked up to my big tv as an extended monitor so I would only use this on a tv thats quite far away from my pc but still for the price it seems quite cool.

Re: New Nexus 7 and Chromecast

Got an email from Amazon saying I am eligible for the Netflix promo guess I ordered just in time. They'll give it to me 5 days after it ships, no idea when that will be though...

Turns out the TRIM thingamajig in 4.3 greatly improves original Nexus 7 performance.

Got my Nexus today. My initial impressions are very good (though it is not without its share of quirks). The display is beautiful, the upgraded internals are definitely welcomed and the build quality is noticeably better than the previous version. The new Nexus looks and feels like a much more expensive tablet than the previous version, though it is still not up to par with the ipad. For the price, I definitely think it is worth it.

My gripes with 4.2 were not resolved with 4.3, but maybe things will change once 5.0 comes around.

Got my chromecast. It's the best netflix player ever. I think I'm gonna buy another.

Koush is at it again. First phone to chromecast app. Streams local content from the phone.

Could I somehow use a chromecast to play the output from a slingbox? If so I can finally cancel my cable since I would have a way to see live sports.

I got my chromecast on monday but didn't have time to use it yet.

My friend said it works good with netflix/youtube but lags when mirroring chrome browser.
Anyone else have more experience when using chromecast with Chrome?

So is it nothing a good laptop cannot accomplish? I am just wondering why people buy tablets for if they just sit around the house.

BTW, the siblings and I bought my mom an iPad Mini to replace her Kindle. Guess what it is doing now? Collecting dust in a cabinet

New Nexus 7 and Chromecast

I was about to buy the 8 in Samsung tab 3 when I heard of the nexus7. I haven't seen the nexus in person. Is the nexus built quality better than the Samsung tab?

Apps become completely unresponsive, phantom typing, terrible lag, frozen screen, etc...

I never had these problems with my old Nexus.

That's odd. My old one got laggy after awhile but the new one is like greased lightning. So the opposite of your situation lol. And since 4.3 sped up the old one it's running well again too.

Do you use a different app for typing besides the stock keyboard

Pretty much lol. I read lots of things about the original Nexus, but I never had any problems.

I used to use that back when I was on a ThunderBolt and it couldn't run ICS. It was a solid browser. I stick with chrome now that I have a Gnex though. The cross platform sync is very useful
