i went from a 2.93 (manual 328) to a 3.62 LSD and certainly do not regret it. While your subframe is out, i would suggest replacing some bushings/mounts and getting reinforcement plates. good luck!

What year\model(s) come with a 3.38 that will bolt in with minimal modifications? I believe I read that some e46s have a different output flange size

Auto 330s came with 338s iirc.
