Anyone get up early and hit the gym before work? Tips to get going?

Trying to convince myself to wake up in the morning and hit the gym. The problem is, unless there is something REALLY pressing(I.E. big deadline at work etc), I cannot get myself out of bed early. I am not a lazy person in my awake life, but when that alarm goes off i'm like a fat lazy blob that refuses to move until the very last minute.

I recently realized I was in the worst shape of my life, and my goal is to get into the best shape of my life by the time I turn 30(about 8 months away). Early in the morning is the only time I can realistically hit the gym every day when I take into account my work hours, and my young family.

I need some ideas!

I'm just like you, in the sense that I cannot wake up early enough to workout. However, it all depends how badly u want it. If u want it bad enough, you'll sacrifice some sleep to achieve your goals. I've now been waking up early for the past month and running 3 miles 3-4 days a week. U just gotta want it.

Just do it a few times and you'll get in a nice grove. What are your goals in the gym?

I want to get back down to a normal weight of 195-200, lower my blood pressure to a normal range, and get some upper body definition. Nothing too crazy. When I started working out recently I was "obese"(never really looked overweight though...) up to 222 with a blood pressure of 150/90. Already down to 213, and blood pressure at 130/74.

I'm in the middle of this right now. It's hard. It's really difficult. You need an absolutely set sleep schedule. You'll have days where you can't do it and that's okay. Just do it after work, and try again the next day. Work for one day, then two days, then three days, etc. Soon enough you'll be doing all 5-6 days. You'll adjust. It takes a good 6 weeks to adjust to a new sleep schedule. Use melotonin if you have to, because you're not going to want to go to sleep earlier.

You'll feel very energetic throughout the day. Just be sure to get at least 8 hours of sleep beforehand.

Today I didn't make it, so I worked out after work and I am going to try again tomorrow morning. It's all dependent upon how good your night sleep is, and chances are your first few weeks of sleep are going to be really crappy because you'll be so not used to going to bed early.

It can take up to 6 weeks to adjust I mean* I am on the higher end of that spectrum because my body is stupid when it comes to sleep.

comes down to a good schedule and diet is key. You should benefit from a pre workout supplement though.
