It looks like the problem is directly related to the fact that the site now has https. The site was given https hack in June and one of the results is that the forum will no longer show content from hosting sites that are not secure. When I look at the links that you have in your signature Spannerhead, most of them are on http sites (not https) so that would explain why those images are not showing up on the site, now that the site has https. The reason why you might be seeing your images from time to time is because you might be visiting cached versions of the site, so if you have the old URL bookmarked on your computer, it might be leading you to a stored version of the http site (where you would see your images). To make sure that everything is up to date, I'd suggest deleting any old site bookmarks, clearing your browser's cache/cookies and then logging into the site (making sure that the URL is https). You can re-bookmark the site to make sure that you're visiting the correct URL.
We understand that this is a bit of a hassle for people who have images hosted on non-https sites, but ultimately all hosting sites will soon be required to have https anyway, so it's only a matter of time before all of the now-missing images are restored. In the meantime, there are some add-on/plugins that you can install should you need to view http images on the site. You can also try using Internet Explorer (if you have it), since it does not enforce the same security measures as other browsers do.
