Best "bang for your buck" suspension?

What are some suspension choices that are good quality but not too expensive? This would be for a 2002 330i.

This all depends on your needs. Are you tracking/HPDE/autox? Or do you just want something that goes well for the backroads or weekend drive?

Do you need camber plates and height adjustability or do you just want something to set it and forget it?

If you want something that handles well but is still relatively comfortable, H&R springs + Bilstein B8 will do the trick.

I want a little more "track focused" suspension; I'm not sure how to word it, just performance I guess. I plan on occasionaly going to autox events but I also want to be able to daily drive. I feel like I would need adjustability, I don't know why I wouldn't have that. If I wanted to make a change in the future, I feel like that would make it easier.

Hey so I am not really someone who gets out the track a whole lot myself, but I'd like to. I bought some DIRT cheap coilovers off ebay from FK Streetline with adjustable dampening for $396 about a year ago. Honestly the suspension was a great value and upgrade over blown OEM sport suspension. I can see myself one day definitely upgrading to something better like a KW V1, but for now these work great. The coils are pretty comfortable on the lowest shock setting and they do noticeable stiffen when you crank it up. I used new lemforder mounts and the OEM reinforcement plates all around when I put the suspension on. If I had to do it over I would have probably got some camber plates because the alignment shop couldn't get -2.5 degrees in the front. I'm sure the car would be great in AutoX, I'm not going to say that body roll decreased dramatically, but the car feels sure footed and sharp.

One of the rear springs has broken (usual place at the bottom small coil). I am happy to replace all the springs but want the standard ride height as it is a road car only that does alot of small back lane countryside driving over pot holes and speed bumps in London UK.

When I look at aftermarket improved performance springs like H&R, Eibach etc they have different levels of lowering drop. Are these 25mm or 50mm drops for example based on a standard SE car or M Sport, as I believe the M Sport is already slightly lower than an SE no?? If they are based on an SE then I am thinking a spring with a minimal lowering level of say 20mm may be suitable.


I would also like to replace the shocks as they are 19 years old, done nearly ninety thousand miles and are quite scabby with rust. From what I have read the Bilstein B8 seems to be a good option.

..........or should I forget about all this aftermarket stuff for an everyday hard use road car and just go for standard M Sport springs and shocks?

I would appreciate people's thoughts/opinions on this. Cheers!
