That's a crazy deal! Just missing heated seats for me, really. Just shows good buys are still out there from those who don't follow the market and just see it as an "old used car." Doubt it will last long!

Here's an odd one:
https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-...CALERTSEMLSRCH

Oxford Green
Natural Brown
Auto Transmission
Sport Package
Premium Package
325i (RWD)

https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-...CALERTSEMLSRCH

Not much info in the add (no pics) so I had to pull most of the info from the VIN report
https://www.mdecoder.com/decode/pc11113

EDIT:
I was interested to see some photos of this one so I messaged the dealership and should have some photos later today that I'll post.

Why do dealers bother to list cars with little information and no picture. I see this all the time and it just seems odd they bother to set it up without info and a handful of pics taken on your cell phone. Even if it hasn't been prepped yet buyers get some idea of what it is and I would guess a huge percentage of people skip right over something without a picture.

It just takes a couple minutes to fully populate a decent listing.

It seems really common and I have no idea why they do this... It's listed on Autotrader but isn't on the dealership's own website either.

EDIT:

I talked to Andrew at the dealership (cool guy who knew his BMW's) and apparently this car was sold a long time ago and it was some kind of glitch that the car was auto-relisted on autotrader. That would apparently explain the lack of photos, no price, etc.

When I was shopping for mine there was a really nice silver over black one listed at BMW of Silver Spring. I messaged about it within a few hours of it being listed and the response that I got was "oh, sorry that shouldn't have been listed as we don't sell cars that old. It'll have to go to the wholesaler." I was all "sell it to me right now and be done with it!" Nope.

Right?!?! I'll sign whatever you want me sign accepting it "as-is" and will pay you more than wholesale, guaranteed! I don't understand why they won't take deals like that to make more money. Isn't that the whole point? To earn a profit?

It was especially bad given that they'd gone to the work to list it on their site and Autotrader. Why not do a deal?

DC would have been a much easier trip for me than the one to NH that I ultimately did, and that car was an MT.

And here I thought dealers did that to intentionally **** with customers, basically.

I believe such tactics also go by the expression, "playing hard to get."

How does that benefit them when they won't sell the car?

I dunno. I don't work at a dealer so it's purely conjecture on my part. But the basic thinking is that the harder it is to obtain information, the more it drives up interest and demand in a bit of warped reverse psychology.

Of course, this assumes the car meets some baseline desirability threshold. If not, it would be in the dealer's best interest to be as helpful and cooperative as possible (putting lipstick on a pig, as it were).

BMW 325i Touring - 5spd manual wagon - $7000 (richmond / seacliff)
great highway near balboa
(google map)
2002 BMW 325i
condition: good
cylinders: 6 cylinders
drive: rwd
fuel: gas
paint color: green
size: compact
title status: clean
transmission: manual
type: wagon
Reluctantly up for sale is my 2002 BMW e46 touring. This is a 5 speed manual wagon with both Premium and Sport packages, making this a fairly rare car. It took me a long time and a lot of searching to find this car, but I've decided to sell it to get a truck. Not interested in trades unless you have a clean 4x4 Tacoma.

The car is mechanically stock and runs great, but does have some minor paint flaws. There are few tasteful oem plus modifications to the interior and exterior, but all could be easily reversed or changed.

- 160xxx miles
- sport package (seats, steering wheel, wheels, lower firmer suspension)
- premium package (power seats, auto dimming mirror, harmon kardon speakers, leather, moon roof)
- 5 speed manual transmission

Maintenance (all oem bmw parts)
-------***8 212;------- -------***8 212;-
- rebuilt vanos (120k)
- complete cooling system overhaul (130k)
- radiator
- water pump
- all hoses
- all pulleys
- flush and new coolant
- intake hoses (130k)
- airbag recall replacement (130k)
- front driver + both back window regulators (130k)
- BFGoodrich sport all season tires
- fuel pump (150k)
- full synthetic oil service every 7,500 miles since I've owned it

Interior bits
-------***8 212;------- -------***8 212;-
- BMW OEM M-tech shift knob
- BMW OEM black floor mats
- Alcantara shifter and e-brake boots
- Black center console
- Quidzel aux input stereo kit

Exterior bits
-------***8 212;------- -------***8 212;-
- BMW OEM euro clear tail lights
- Depo clear corner parking lights
- black kidney grills
- 35% 3M tint all around
- Thule aero bars (bike mount not included)

Some not great stuff
-------***8 212;------- -------***8 212;-
- leaks some oil around the valve cover, that then burns off sometimes while driving. I was told that just the gasket needs to be replaced, but it's possible the whole valve cover might need replacing. It leaks about 1 quart every 3,000 miles
- brakes are due for replacement
- shifter has some play and could use some new bushings
- rear wiper needs to be cleaned/repaired. It moves but gets stuck sometimes.
- paint on both bumpers are starting to peel
- some paint issues on the hood and roof from tree sap.
- front passenger window regulator needs replacing. It still works but moves slowly and will probably completely fail soon.
- hood roundel/emblem recently fell off, so the logo is missing

Nice color and configuration, lives in an ideal climate. $4.5K IMO.
