Mr cjhinpa, thanks for that info. My car doesn't have an aerial aperture. The antenna
is in the window.

The roof antennae (at least for my US spec touring) is for the phone. Or at least that's what it said on the box when I painfully replaced it. I don't use it but it was broken off and it was worth $160 to not have a broken antenna up there.

Your car will do this is the "open" button on your key (BMW Logo) is pressed and held down. There may be a problem in your key which is "pressing and holding" the open button, or your the key is is a crowded pocket and is being pushed by all the change bouncing around in your pocket .

I'm stumped! When coming to stop from slow speed I hear grinding metal to metal from driver side front. No brake warning, but I removed all pads and they're like new, even wear, (Only bought car 30k miles ago). Tried bending the metal shield back but no change. Anybody have a suggestion.

I assume that if you were removing brake pads, you rotated the disc while you were in there and heard nothing? I would have suggested a nut or stone wedged in between the disc and metal shield if not.
