Seriously great (and rare- unless I simply haven't been paying attn, I don't think I've ever seen this before) color on this E90 Touring. I don't think I'd ever pick E90 over E46, but if I were in the market for a Touring and one came up in this color, I might have to give it serious consideration.

That is a nice color. I like the styling of the e90, but I'm not a big fan of the interior, and then there's the lack of a dipstick, etc, etc. Lol!

Just looked it up. For reference, the color is Barbera Red or Barberarot Metallic, evidently named after the wine (seems fitting). Not a lot of search results from GISing so yeah, seems fairly uncommon.

Wouldn't that be an E91?

Yes, I was referring to the E90 chassis more generally, but an E90 Touring specifically does = E91 (which I personally never understood the need for).

We don't call an E46 Touring an E47, for example. That's just silly.

Definitely silly. BMW started doing that with the newer cars. I recently sold my F31 M sport wagon. But the sedan is a F30.

Our wagons aren't e46s, they are e46/3.
What I hate about the e90/91 is the dashboard. It's just so... "large swath of boring plastic" other than that I've come around to the styling. Much rather have it's decendent though. Bmw pattern seems to be hit, miss, hit, miss, hot, etc. On tourings.

I agree. The dash is what really kills them for me from a styling standpoint.

Gentleman, can someone quickly confirm if a BMW performance shifter (e60) fits an '01 325i 5spd? I can't recall if you guys use that shifter or the Z3/Z4 shifter. TIA!

this really isn't the right thread to be asking that.

Point me to the right direction then, because title of this thread states "...general chit chat"

Try the general forum:

https://forum.e46fanatics.com/forumdisplay.php?f=4

This is the Touring forum, and (probably) geared more toward non-technical questions.

Passed a grey-green facelift xit this evening on my way home. RT 283 west between Lancaster and Harrisburg. We exchanged greetings. Looked to be a fairly basic model, style 45s, halogen lights, etc. Had "Just Married" on the back window, though I saw no spouse in the car.

Not an E46 obviously, but in the spirit of inclusion:

Too low for my taste, but otherwise,

Saw the same grey-green xit again this morning and exchanged waves again.

Here's a pic from the other day with my coworker's uber clean 2001 325i sedan. It's close to 200k miles and has been virtually trouble free for him in the 4 years he's owned it. Please pardon my dirty touring. (He's the head recon guy, so his better be clean!) The third pic is some carbon fiber mirror caps he picked up. They're pretty nice looking, and would tie in with my interior trim treatment. I'm still not sure if I want to pul the trigger.
