Replaced wiper blades. Both Bosch type wiper blade adaptor clamps that join the blade wing to the end of the arm broke. Brittle.
Ordered 2 new ones. Pn 61618233577.

Front RHS Door Speaker Dead

While replacing the speaker cover that had a hole in it, found that one of the wires to the cone had broken off.
Tried soldering back together but made the wire too tight.
Bugger.
Update
Lengthened the wire and still no noise.
Found that pushing the diaphragm down a bit made it work.
Made a cardboard ring that I placed between the speaker an its mount.
Ring went across the diaphragm half way. This lowered it and it works.
Looks like magnet and electromagnets are not aligning.
Probably lowers the response of the speaker, but it now is off my urgent list.

Planning to Adjust Front Clip

Found a pic of how the front clip on attaches to the carbon fibre bumper. Few clips and screws under guards and 4 clips on the bumper. The bumper clips look adjustable so I may be able to get everything aligned. I appear to be missing the pads on top of the bumper that gives the nice even gap instead of a wavy top edge. Will come up with something.

Step 1 with owning an e46 of any model: Get used to dash lights, they will never go away

I have fixed my 330 for dash warning lights and minor fixes for blown lights on the M3 and no lights for quite a while. Service and replace parts as required. E46s are getting old and electrical and plastic parts are failing. At least you can still get them.
Major gripe is previous owners who broke bits and did not replace them, or did not replace fasteners etc.

Foam on Top of Bumper

Found some foam to replace the missing pieces on top of the carbon fibre bumper. A kids swimming board!
Cuts beautifully in a band saw.
Widest is 20mm and angle was 11.5 degrees.

Only did middle until I replace ball clips that are missing.

Love the Beluga Racing Exhaust

Definitely love the sound. Std exhaust to the muffler. Thought they were cheap as their website shows $1k US less than their EBay site...
If it did not come with the car, no way I would have paid that much.
Oz $ plus shipping would make this very expensive option.

Camber Calcs

Want to work out the priority for putting in camber adjustment.
Put a 610mm straight edge on front wheels and a level. At top of straight edge there was a 6mm gap. This has std height. Also has pin in the top plate.
On back there was 25mm. This is lowered about 50mm.
Correct my maths memory, but the angle is:
Tan^-1(6/610) or about 0.6 degrees neg camber on front.
2.6 degrees on back.
Front std is meant to be 1 degree on front and 2 degrees on back.

Looks like I can put the 50mm lowered front back on and get camber in spec as the pin is removed on the lowered struts' top plates.

Need to replace the lower control arms to get rear in spec.

Rear toe out still need some to be addressed somehow.

Update on thinking:
Rear is over the required neg camber std.
It is at max extension on the length of the control arm.
Should be able to bring it back to std by shortening lower arm?

Checking Front Camber

Never got the start and finish camber values after getting a full alignment done. Was told everything was at max and all over the place.
Did some calculations and wondered why one side was twice the other. Ie 0.6 and 1.2 degrees. 1 degree is meant to be the std.
Took the caps off and the 0.6 degree side still had the pin in it! They screw off with an Allen driver. Better than hitting them with a hammer.
Put it at max and it came to 1.2 degrees.
Left them there.
I want to lower front end, but do not think I will get it into spec.
Will put on a K-Mac camber top plate before swapping new struts in.

Will check and adjust rear next as I think they need to have the lower control shortened to reduce high negative camber.
Will get it all checked again (elsewhere) after front done

Itís the Small Things Sometimes

After getting rego and new plates, the rear right screw hole mount was broken and rotated. Could not get the screw in. Left side was cracked.
Bought new ones from EBay Lithuania (weird the number of BMW parts for sale from Lithuania).
They go into a hex sided hole that is blind. Ie no access on the other side.
Used long nosed pliers and broke them up.
The screws were too long and would have broken the ends of the new mounts.
Cut them shorter and all good.

FRont Bumper Properly Mounted.

2 clips, spacers and ball mounts at over $100Aus and got the bumper properly mounted.
Having the 2 inner ball mounts lifts and pulls back the bumper.
Inserted my foam spacers in the middle and got a nice even gap.
The rhs is nice already, the lhs needs a bit more work.
Will get to it when I do the lower headlight eyebrow.

Bit More Progress

Put foam in the front bumper under each headlight and now have a nice even gap. Due to fender bender on rhs, it is close but not perfect. Will leave alone unless it pisses me off.

Ordered a new lcd for the oem head unit and a rebuild kit, including pistons, for the front brake calipers. Will post on lcd installation.

Looking for a hk door or deck speaker at good price as shipping kills me, and a motor or complete rotating lh door mirror.

Need a rhs brake duct metal mount so I an eventually fit the central plastic engine guard.

Also a bit of painting needed. May get a can and do small stuff myself.

Power Steering Dead

My new aftermarket hose (brand name from ecs) that goes between the reservoir and oil cooler blew off the oil cooler. Genuine part ordered. Been ok for a few weeks.
