Update old Dynavin-Android to newer unit like Eonon GA9150B

I have a 2004 E46 convertible that originally had Navigation. Around 2011/12 the previous owner updated the stereo/nav system with a Dynavin-Android head unit. It was installed professionally with the steering wheel controls and a backup camera. All of that works.

This old Dynavin unit uses Android 2.2 and while it does function, I would say that overall things were probably not quite ready for prime time, with some frustrations in its operation. But it does work and with blue-tooth (which seems to be limited to one connected/registered phone at a time) I can play music from my iphone (or the aux cable). While it can be annoying it isn't annoying enough for me to want to spend 600+ to replace it. However, I noticed that there are some recent android units like the Eonon GA9150B which is only $210 right now which I would be willing to pony up to get a more recent up to date unit that along with a USB dongle could do carplay.

My questions are if I just purchased this or some other android based head unit:
  • Would the Dynavin install steering control adapter the Dynavin came with be compatible and work.
  • Would the same bus and other adapters that were part of the Dynavin install be compatible and work with a new head unit.
  • Would the OBD work
  • Would the backup camera that was installed as part of the Dynavin setup work?

My suspicion is that the backup camera video signal should be compatible, although I wonder if there is a uniform signal on the wiring harness that would be same for all units to know to turn on the camera display.

Any help/advice/knowledge would be greatly appreciated in helping to make this decision.

As an addendum, how good/reliable are the Eonon head units? Are they upgradable to newer firmwares?
